We had a discussion about why we don't hold a regional on another thread. here's a quote from the Albany Times-Union:
The article is here.
Basically the article states it's hard to make money unless you have a home team.
Having to guarantee a specified number of seats to the NCAA can become risky in the bidding process, but Belber said he expects to at least break even on this event.

Ridiculous goal scoring streak by BC in the second period. 3 consecutive goals in 1:58 span.

I'm surprised ESPN has not moved the UND-Wisconsin game to ESPNNEWS. Right now ESPNNEWS has some NASCAR-like wrap up coverage.
You think they would learn their lessons about OT games and have the appropriate back-up.
Neither the FOX sports north or Altitude seem to be picking up the Midwest regional feed.

Whitney made a once-in-a-lifetime shot on a rebound, while simultaneously diving and being pushed down by a Miami defenseman - hard to begrudge them a thing of beauty like that one.
Glad to see an eastern team going to Denver, even if it'll be the third year in a row I see BC play in the FF.

Agree, in one way I wanted to see an all western final with only one WCHA team. Man, I guess they (WCHA) really get to me. Anyway, go Wis.

NoDak isn't in the Axis of Evil (Minnesota, BC, Michigan), but I'm all for Wisconsin. They're certainly my favorite western team, and there would be something funny in a sub .500 team winning it all -- it would kind of invalidate the entire year.

I'm with you on that one. And then I'm rooting for whoever gets Notre Dame to take them out. I just don't think Touchdown Jesus has any business being on skates. Nevertheless, if it comes down to BC vs. ND, what does the Pope do?

I've bolded the thing he was saying everyone in Boston who's not affiliated with BC does.
The BC/Miami game was great to watch, but I was surprised by how silent the fans were. I was sitting behind the band and a pocket of BC students, and the only time they really cheered was during the two minutes that BC caught up and took the lead, and after the GWG in OT.

I noticed the same thing in the 2001 FF (Albany). I was sitting near the BC band and fans. They had a 1-goal lead in the last few minutes, on the verge of their first national championship since 1948, and they were just sitting on their asses as if it was a chore to have to be there. I reiterate my claim that if Cornell happened to be in that position, you would see people launching themselves from the upper deck in joy and elation.
As it turned out (IIRC) NoDak tied the game with an EAG in the last minute, but BC got the winner in OT, triggering an eruption of polite applause from the BC band.
But hey, they have t-shirts that say they're good fans.

Surprised nobody's posted it yet: No. Dakota beats Wisconsin in overtime.
As long as you didn't have a compelling rooting interest in a losing team, it was a great day to watch college hockey.
Per end of game graphic, 1st semi-final will be BC-No. Dak. at 4 MDT, 6EDT, with Michigan-Notre Dame scheduled for 3 hours later.

Perhaps it depends on the religious order that he belongs to. If he is a Jesuit, then he must have a soft spot for BC, a school founded by Jesuits. But of course, it happens that a Jesuit has never been --and most likely will never be-- elected Pope, so your guess is as good as mine!Killer

Wisc-NoDak was wonderful to listen to, by the way, including the post-game show. Having said that, I'm rather cold to all of the teams in this year's Frozen Four. On the other hand, if I can listen to more college hockey through Fargo radio over the internet, I hope they make it to the final game. Hockey rulz!

Well, Benedict is not from an order; few recent Popes have been. Having said that, Benedict and Notre Dame did not see eye to eye when (as Cardinal Ratzinger) he was the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (for curious souls, start with the short description of "Ex Corde Ecclesiae" on Wikipedia and from there to summaries of Hans Kung and Charles Curran).minPerhaps it depends on the religious order that he belongs to. Ah, Fred, methinks better advice would be: learn to write unambiguously
Which still leaves me pondering the clause, "who's not affiliated with BC..." Are there people here who are affiliated with BC who call it "Boston"? Perhaps my circles are too small, but I can't say I've ever knowingly met any. Happy to be enlightened.

Although I agree there could be multiple ways to read it, the flipside of what was being said was that people who are affiliated with BC don't necessarily wish he would stop calling it 'Boston'. Not that they themselves do so.

He also seemed to do it less on Sunday than Saturday. However, he did refer to the schools as "franchises" early on in the broadcast on Saturday. Yuck!
Regardless, I think he's doing better at it and seems to care more about it than he did a couple of years ago.
