The SLU announcer on the free radio feed:

"God, the refs in this league are so unpredictably bad."

I particular enjoyed when he called Dell a "gutless wonder." This announcer is quite the homer.

The SLU announcers have been known for the last few years as the worst pair in the league. They are adults, not students, which makes it even more pathetic.

the other thing that's pathetic is their selection of commercials. I've heard the one about sleep apnea at least 10 times now. The station must be struggling to find people that want to advertise on it.

On the other hand working up sleep disorders is very profitable. So, they may be paying for those commercials.

Interesting article in the latest Consumer Reports on pharmaceutical company advertising, physician perks, etc., Jim.

Obtaining relief from sleep apnea is a big deal, by the way.

Fortunately they have had to clean up their act some. However, it's a never ending battle. Over the last few years their gimmick has been to invite you to be a "consultant". They would ask you to dinner at a great restaurant, present some "company line" material, and then ask for your feedback as a "consultant". That way they could give their hard sell, pay you a "consultant" fee, and write it off as part of their research budget rather than advertising.

The fees paid for these went from $50, to $100, to $500 or more. Sometimes they would even sent you to some resort for a weekend of "consulting". And we wonder why our drug costs are higher than the rest of the world.

Is it still Wally Johnson and that other guy? What amazes me is that the SLU people on the boards think they're great.

[q]"God, the refs in this league are so unpredictably bad."[/q]

Actually, I think that was "...so predictably bad." Aka... always bad.

I got confused when they gave an assist to Dell for one of the goals. I'm a little slow, you see.
