Well, that didn't suck.
Topher gets his 100th point.
Greening gets the first Cornell hat-trick in 101 games (2/19/05 - Moulson)
Scrivens gets his first shutout since Jan. 4 (Niagara) on 31 shots.
3x4 on the PP
4x4 on the PK
Nash bros. get 5 points
Kennedy bros. get 4 points
Schafer moves to 12-13-1 vs. Dartmouth in the regular season...still the only losing record for him vs. a league foe.
Pretty much a perfect night in the old barn tonight.

I'll stick it here since it doesn't need it's own thread. Women took a 2-1 lead into the 3rd at #1 Harvard in the ECAC quarters. They blew it and lost 3-2, getting outshot 56-22. They'll play again tomorrow.
Women's hoops got beat at the buzzer and is 9-2 at 9-2 harvard tomorrow with 8-3 dartmouth hanging around.

I'd mention that a playoff series win over Dartmouth would take care of that, but I'd rather Cornell get the first round bye.RichH

Crossing my fingers for Burton to pull off some of his magic in OT against Harvard.

Harvard 3, Colgate 3, OT
Union 2, Yale 1
Cornell stays tied for 4th.
Right now:
31 Clarkson
28 Princeton
25 Harvard
25 Union
25 Cornell
22 Quinnipiac
21 Colgate
20 Yale
Cornell is behind both Union and Harvard for tie breaker reasons. Cornell needs to beat Harvard, unless Brown beats Union. For the later case, they would only need to tie Harvard to get a first round bye.

Makes it a 3-way tie for 3rd. QU can't finish higher than 6th.
Teams Possible standing Round 1 possibility Clarkson locked in 1st (bye) Princeton locked in 2nd (bye) Cornell, Harvard, Union 3,4,5 (2 get byes, 1 hosts R1) Quinni, Colgate, Yale 6,7,8 (host R1) RPI, Brown, DC, SLU 9-12 (on the road for R1)
So really, there are only 2 interesting games tomorrow. One massive one that may be of interest here, and Union-Brown could determines the fate of the loser of C-H.
Harvard owns the tiebreak vs. UC (2-0 H2H)
UC owns the tiebreak vs. CU (2-0 H2H)
Harvard owns the tiebreak vs. CU (a tie would make 1-0-1 H2H)
If both games wind up being tied, and all 3 teams are still tied, Harvard gets 3rd (3-0-1) and Union takes 4th (2-0).
Two outcomes give Cornell a 1st round bye:
1. Win vs. H
2. Tie vs. H and a U loss vs. Brown
Union gets a bye with a win or a tie vs. Brown.
Harvard gets a bye with either:
1. Win or tie @ Lynah
2. A Union loss
In summary: Just win, baby.

We haveta beat Harvard, of course, but if union wins, then we get the #4 seed and have to beat Harvard 2x more to get to Albany. Makes me nervous.

Assuming Harvard would get passed Dartmouth in that scenario... heh.
Last time we played Harvard at Lynah in the playoffs was my freshman year, and that turned out pretty well.

This is the first time Cornell's first regular-season sweep of Dartmouth since Bob Gaudet returned to his alma mater.
Here is another testament to how Gaudet turned the Dartmouth program around: Dartmouth's string of seven straight winning season will likely come to an end. From the 1980-81 through 1999-2000 seasons, Dartmouth had twenty consecutive losing seasons. The interregnum between Gaudet's college goaltending career and Gaudet replacing Roger Demment comprised sixteen of those twenty years.

Wait, I'm confused. I thought you were only interested in throwing fish and didn't actually care about the outcome of the hockey game.RichH

And we saw harvard in the playoffs all four years for 13 games in four years. I could have done without the '02 result of course...
