Here's an item of interest from USCHO Forum -

Quote from Ralph Baer:

Current holder of The Belt is SLU; next defense v. Cornell 01/18/2008

Current holder of Ivy Belt is Cornell; next defense v. Brown 1/25/08

Current holder of NY Belt is St. Lawrence; next defense v. Cornell 01/18/2008

Good question -

The ECAC Belt held by Quinnipiac is next defended v. Rensselaer on 02/01/2008. For what it's worth - we play RPI on 16 Feb and Q'pac on Fri, 22 Feb. We'll know more about 9:30 pm this Friday whether the planets are aligning for unification!

When is the last time Cornell successfully defended the championship belt?

It would be nice to keep the belt in the ECAC until the NCAA tournament. Looks like Clarkson and Harvard still have OOC games.

Good question. Looking thorugh the history, Cornell won The Belt on 02/28/1981 beating Harvard and lost it to Providence on 03/14/1981. The latter game was the ECAC final.

If I'm not mistaken, the championship belt, since leaving us and going to Clarkson, has followed this path:

2/1 - Clarkson loses it to Colorado College
2/2 - CC successfully defends against Clarkson
2/8 - CC successfully defends against St Cloud State University
2/9 - SCSU wins it from CC

So the belt stays in the WCHA for now. SCSU next plays at Alaska-Anchorage on Friday, 2/15

Continuing in the FWIW vein, SCSU successfully defends the belt with back-to-back wins of 3-1 and 2-1 last weekend at Alaska-Anchorage.

Correct. Cornell still has the Ivy Belt. Quinnipiac has the ECAC Belt.
