Well, we still have some RS games, but since Cornell is off until Estero, let's declare it the holidays already.
Harvard has a game at RPI tonight. Go Engineers! A Harvard loss or tie would give Cornell sole possession of second place in the ECAC (by winning percentage) throughout the break. If the Other Red can unload on Richter, Scrivens can close the gap in the conference-only goaltending race:
1. Richter, Hvd 5-2-1, 1.12, .962
2. Scrivens, Cor 4-1-0, 1.61, .942
3. Lange, RPI 1-1-1, 1.95, .936
5 goals against Richter in 60 minutes would put Scrivens #1 in GAA.

Just as long as Lange gives up his four. Don't want him to advance either.Trotsky

Speaking of the holidays, I always wonder which teams were supposed to be cupcakes in the easy-bake-oven-est Christmas tourneys (my suspicions in italics):
Denver Cup (ummm... Denver, CO)
Sacred Heart @ Denver
Dartmouth vs. Northern Michigan
Dodge [Cupcake] Classic (Minneapolis, MN)
BC vs. Air Force
RIT @ Minnesota (Yeah, I know, I know. But it's true.)
(I wonder which teams are supposed to meet in the final?)
Badger Showdown (Madison, WI)
Colgate @ Wisconsin (Wisconsin gets it right for once, at least in the first round.)
Bowling Green vs. Northeastern (Nice try!)
Catamount Cup (Burlington, VT)
Holy Cross @ Vermont
Western Michigan vs. Quinnipiac
Michigan gets Providence, the sacrificial lamb, at the GLI. The Ohio Hockey Classic looks to be a good field, and the cupcake turns out to be one of the hosts, Ohio State, with Harvard as the beneficiary. Estero's competitor to the north, the Lightning Classic, looks to have the best field, though I wonder if RPI and UMass were originally intended to be cupcakes. (The Badger Showdown also might have a claim to the best field, but that surely wasn't Wisco's intention. And the GLI's not a tournament so much as yet another pretense for Michiganders to bow at their Green and Blue shrines.)
Man, I hope we're not the cupcake of our own tournament... but that could be Maine in this crazy year. Hope we see Clarkson in the final.

Does anyone know if the fracking thing is going to be televised this year?

RPI looks like the cupcake in the Lightning Classic, but I don't think that they were picked for that reason. Notre Dame is the host and apparently it was a you-come-to-my-tourney-and-I'll-go-to-yours situation since Notre Dame was at RPI's Tourney over Thanksgiving.
Starting this evening RPI plays (rankings are USCHO's)
Harvard #13
Miami #1
Miami #1
Colorado College #2
Notre Dame #6 or Massachusetts #11
Then we get Maine in Portland.
We should be suitably shellshocked when the Big Red goes to Troy for the start of the new year.

Catamount Cup (Burlington, VT)
Holy Cross @ Vermont
Western Michigan vs. Quinnipiac
UVM is looking like more of a cupcake than Holy Cross this year.

Right now, Denver, GLI, and Dodge are the only tournaments scheduled to be televised according to: [www.collegehockeylive.com]

Come on RPI! Richter gave up 3 in two periods. RPI leads 3-2 in the third now.

I've not been able to confirm this, so I just emailed them. Will post once I get an answer.

Northeastern's ranked #12 in the USCHO poll right behind UMass, and they're leading Hockey East as I write this. Not a bad "try" at all.Scersk '97

Looks like it went final at 4-2 RPI. Haven't seen any details yet.

Who are the cupcakes?
What? No mention of the Toyota UConn Hockey Classic in beautiful Storrs, CT? This year, as usual, the cupcakes are all four teams. I can't wait to see Brown, Ferris State, Army, and UConn race to the bottom.
Last year this was the tournament Colgate used to break their years long run of losing every conceivable tournament they entered. Last year's field also included heavyweights Holy Cross and Northeastern.
At least you can't beat the price. It's something like $4 each day.

Richter allowed all 4GA, no ENGs, and he was out of the nets for 1:52 so it's a 4.1 GA average for the game.
Biega got 1 of the 2 Cantab goals.

Remember 2001 when Cornell allowed 2 GPG, but only scored 2 GPG? In the six games since getting to play Union, Harvard has scored 11 and allowed 11 (1.83 GPG for each) It used to be that the Harvard's offense usually made their goaltenders look better than they were, but now I think that's been switched. The Allstonians are now 0-3-1 when Richter allows more than 1.
They've still got 2 NC games (UVM, BC) and an exhibition (U-18) to go in the coming week.

That was my point. Wisco has had some trouble in their "home" tournament in past years, even in the first round vs. actual cupcakes. This year, one would think that the Wisconsonites thought their chosen opponents would be full of cupcake-y goodness, i.e., that Bowling Green and Northeastern wouldn't be quite as good as they clearly are this year.Al DeFlorioNortheastern's ranked #12 in the USCHO poll right behind UMass, and they're leading Hockey East as I write this. Wisconsin tried to fly out some cupcakes and ended up with tortes fortes.
