Tech over SLU(t) 5-4 in ot in a victory that was apparently spoon-fed to Clarkson by John Murphy after SLU(t) led 3-1 near the end of the 2nd
RPI over Sacred Heart 1-0 in ot
Air Force completes their two-game sweep of Quinny with a 3-1 win tonight, while MSU finished their sweep as well, taking out Colgate 2-1
Dartmouth wins their exhibition over York 2-1, while our French Canadian friends from the three rivers who stalemate'd us last night, fell to Princeton 5-3...must be the New Jersey drinking water

Definitely not the case. Fensel deserved that penalty. You could here Murphy yelling at him to let him go multiple times before the arm went up.
As for the penalties at the end of the second, again, all of them were deserved. there weren't any really bad calls or bad no-calls all game. The only exception might be when a SLU player was hurt along the boards (I couldn't see what happened)
it was a really good game...

"spoon-fed?" based on what?

Why was this league game moved up two weeks before the rest of the ECAC schedule?

Based on reactions from SLU, Tech and non-partisan fans over on other forums. Enjoy the real victory...you'll get the moral ones eventually.

Slu could not hold a 3-0 lead and lost.
I don't see the loss can be attributed to a "spoon-feeding" by the officials.
It was an intensely played rivalry game. Cornell fans are very familiar with how those battles experience an ebb and flow.

You mean as regards this particular game? Or as regards an abstract game wherein a team has a 3-0 lead and loses?Rich S

Edit: For instance, RPI had a 3-0 lead in Minnesota last weekend but lost, and the general consensus was that the WCHA officiating crew spoon-fed the win to the Gophers.

As you're probably also familiar, Rich, "It was the refs' fault" is not an entirely uncommon refrain among some of the more biased and less educated fans - though, as Josh has suggested, not always entirely unjustified. It's not really something that needs picking apart, as most Cornell fans (even those wearing "Carnelian-colored glasses" recognize the refrain for what it is and can generally route around it. I'd let it go and move on; I didn't see or even read about the game, but odds are excellent that Tech deserved the win.
I remember one particular instance where the Big Red beat someone rather soundly in a game with rather a lot of penalties, and someone on the old Hockey-L discussion started ranting about how the officials had tilted the game in Cornell's favor. I replied that Cornell had scored two short-handed goals in that one game, so he obviously hadn't been at the game. He was a little embarrassed, and probably never suggested a spoon-feeding again.
(Took me a little while to find the game, but it was Feb. 6, 1999 vs. Princeton - [www.uscho.com] - you can see how scanning the list of goals carelessly might lead you to believe Cornell had scored 6 PPG as opposed to 4 PPG and 2 SHG, and there was no recap posted for the game.)

And again, I based my comment on the opinions and statements of fans of various loyalties...I did not see the game, nor was I trying to be as anti-Tech as possible. It didn't seem fair to just report the score and leave it at that though, as the spate of comments regarding the officiating were difficult to ignore.
Tech (as evidenced by last year's performance and this year's predictions) is a fine team, and despite whatever happened with the officiating, still had to put the puck in the back of the net themselves.
You don't have to legitimize your win to us...just enjoy it and move on.

Come on, you know very well that Rich has much more fun attempting to legitimize the win to us.sah67
