Anybody else unable to get any actual audio from the SLU feed? It seems to think it's connecting, but nothing's coming through - either on the webpage or with the direct URL via QuickTime.

Hey, someone please start the game thread. I may have to go out before the game ends, so I can't

Cornell getting a lot of chances, but making a few defensive mistakes too. I'd say the game is pretty even, with the edge to Cornell.

Cornell on the pk again.

Great period of Old Time Hockey. Both teams with a very aggressive forecheck, both are very physical. Carefoot and Kennedy have been playing like All-ECAC this weekend.

Yeah, I was going to post about that. They said Flanagan was tackled from behind by Greening, and it would be a 1-1 game if not for that. He also said he had better not hear Schafer whining about the refs again. He's one to talk.

Well Milo is carrying his play from last night over to tonight for sure. And how 'bout that checking line?

I admit I haven't really been paying a whole lot of attention to it, but has Schafer been going with Kennedy-Carefoot-Mugford to start games a la Abbott-Sawada-Mugford? The way they have been playing this weekend shows that they could really set a tone for the team to follow early on in the game.

By not lifting the puck. It's pretty much the only mistake he made on that penalty shot. He had the goalie splayed out along the goal line, sliding towards the right side of the net, with the top of the net open. Goalie's glove knocked away the puck on the ice (or very low).

I guess in addition to face-offs, Joey will have to give lessons on how to score on penalty shots. According to Jason Weinstein, Joey was the last Cornellian to score on a penalty shot.

I'm looking for another third period like last night. The 10-4 shot ratio yesterday would be nice to see tonight. I think they look a little flat through the second and need to pick up their forecheck a bit to make some things happen. It almost looks like they were waiting for SLU to screw up instead of putting the pressure on.

How about we just send out Bitz and McCutcheon as a 2-man PP unit...they'll dominate. Maybe we could dress DiLeo as a forward and throw him in there too...then our PP will be unparalleled.

Alrighty, that's about my quota for bashing my own team before I start to feel guilty...or cry.

It isn't a question of being able to "take it". If our guy committed a "goon" penalty I would be the first to admit it. Posters here don't simply refer to every Clarkson penalty as a "goon" penalty. I didn't see last night's game but I didn't see anything bad about Clarkson in the game thread. Certainly in years past the play got, shall we say, chippy?

Do you ever wonder how it is that over a half dozen other Clarkson regulars manage to post here and not draw the wrath you receive? Some of them even manage to criticize and be constructive and engage in conversation. Imagine! On the other hand, you often try to get in that extra sarcastic barb and then hide behind the "you guys can't take it" shield. The thing is that most people don't say these things that piss you off. You take the words of a few people and then attribute them to the entire eLynah community. Last weekend you said everyone mocked Morris for rotating goalies and yet everyone approved of Schafer's doing it. When RichH called you out on it you promptly disappeared until midweek. And the fact that you didn't comment during last night's game or today during the postgame thread AND that you waited until St. Lawrence took the lead in the third tonight makes me pretty sure you waited for favorable conditions to take a shot. I think you like getting some of us pissed off. You think you're keeping of honest but really you're just being a jerk.

Not exactly, by a long shot.

First off, yes the games in earlier years got chippy and downright ugly. I saw a couple of those games at Lynah, in fact.

Clarkson had their share of chippy players and often they did nothing to distinguish themselves in a positive manner. I readily admitted that at the time and noted they were often the instigator of the chippiness. By the same token, some of the Cornell guys acted similarly.

If you want to label opposing players as "goons", fine. Just apply the same standard to your guys.

I wasn't around last night to listen to ANY college game and spent tonight trying, unsuccessfully, thanks to the lack of a feed, to listen to the Clarkson game. Nor was I around all day today.

So, your theory re: the timing of my comments is way off. It has nothing to do with waiting for favorable conditions. You're spending too much energy thinking too about this. Take the comments at face value rather than reading all that into it. If you get "pissed off," that's your issue, not mine.

I didn't "disappear until midweek." Sometimes work gets in the way. Plus, I had made the point already.

Schafer has to replace his goalie if he's playing poorly OR if he wants to try to change the tempo. I said "many" fans agreed with that strategy, not all. Morris did the same thing and he was soundly ridiculed here for doing so.

The effect on a goalie's confidence is often overstated. Having been one and experiencing being pulled a couple of times and now having coached many of them at several levels, I speak from experience. The ones that are mentally tough understnd it and go with it. The ones who aren't mentally tough will probably never be a top flight goalie because mental strngth is one of the key factors in a succesful goalie's makeup.

Goal SLU(T) and a DUMB penalty by Nash

Must be a "GOON." :-P

Trying to start something when your team is down 5-1 and the outcome of the game is no longer in doubt is goonish. Hitting someone out of frustration when you've just gone down is dumb (and also hurts your team a lot more).
