The San Jose Sharks sent Hobey Baker winner Matt Carle down to Worcester today. Carle started the season well, but he has really struggled (along with the team) as of late. Hopefully, this will give Doug a chance to log some more ice time and stay in the lineup.

Doug Murray replaced Matt Carle in the lineup on Sunday after Doug presumably watched from the press box as Carle compiled a -4 in the Sharks' 8-0 loss to the Coyotes.

If the Sharks really lost 8-0 to Phoenix they should send everyone down to Worcester.

Phoenix to Worcester is a double demotion.

The 5-8 minutes of ice time that Doug has played the last six games since his return don't suggest major confidence in his game right now. He was a +2 before his time on IR with far more significant ice time, I don't know why they don't give him more minutes. 5-8 minutes is goon ice time.

Of course, he did almost get into a fight within the first few shifts in the game I watched on Canadian television a week or so ago.

Good news from Augusta- David McKee makes 35 saves in a win over Gwinnett and Shane Hynes grabs the #3 Star for his 2 points, the GWG and an assist. Unfortunately they BOTH got penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct, but in diffrent periods, Shane in the 2nd and David in the 3rd. what gives? what happened?

Doug is in the line-up for the Sharks tonight. Thus far ~ 4 shifts and ~ 3:30 min. A few shots on goal, but not on the ice for any goals.

The Sharks had a good first shift then played like they all wanted a trip to Worcester as Detroit scored 3 goals in 10 minutes. However, the Sharks have woken up and mid-way through the 2nd it is tied 3-3.

Murray with a primary assist on the PP, on San Jose's 9th goal of the evening (they're 6-of-9 on the power play, and 15 of the 18 players in the lineup have at least a point). It's his second career NHL point (48 games played).

6 minutes of play in a 9-4 victory. Blah. Give the kid some ice time.

I was at the Sharks game on Thurs night. It was ugly...Sharks down 0-3 not even half way through the 1st, but then, something happened, and they scored 9 (yes, NINE) unanswered goals. Doug Murray (wearing No. 3) was a starter, but saw very limited action. I did not even spot him on that 9th-goal power play.

I wore my Cornell jersey (with Doug's name and No. 6 on the back, along with his autograph) to the game, and got a few not-so-friendly stares. Oh yeah, CU's jersey looks almost like a Red Wings jersey. Sorry, Sharks fans!

When I saw Telqvist play in LA he was terrible. Couldn't hold on to the puck when he tried to catch it at all. This article is surprising.

Lenny seems to be getting the shaft here:

You have to give that Coyotes organization credit. They've done a masterful job of f#@king up a perfectly fine goaltender!! I hope some other organization is able to recognize his ability & steal him away from the Coyotes......Before he passes that magic age where many teams will not give him a good chance.

The implication that Lenny "flamed out" in a fashion anywhere near as "spectacular" as Morrison is laughable.

If LeNeveau is strong-minded (and stubborn) enough he still might get his chance in the right situation. Tim Thomas is finally being rewarded and he has about 10 years on Lenny.

Yes. Surprisingly so. I thought David came across quite well in his comments. A style change like that is not easy to make (see Tiger Woods's initial problems retooling his swing). Hope he can pull it off.

Lenny is on a roll right now! He was the #1 star the last to games 33 of 35 saves on Friday and 35 of 35 today.

Seems like the Coyotes got it right. Didn't make sense at the time they appeared to be placing a lot of blame on LeNeveu but since they've brought in Tellqvist to split with Joseph, the Coyotes are a few games above .500 including that 7-game winning streak that ended this week.

A poster over on HF said he spoke with the Kings GM and he said that Moulson has been their most improved player ahead of future star Patrick O'Sullivan.

So if O'Sullivan is the #2 most improved player who is #1? He told me Matt Moulson. Has stepped his game up 2 or 3 levels and that his development was going along very smoothly said he is great in both ends and hes very excited about his progression. Said that he was like a -5 at the beginning of the season with 7 points and now hes up to 27 points and a +8 or 9.

While Cornell was playing Brown Saturday night, the Binghamton Senators [including Ryan Vesce and Charlie Cook] were playing in Syracuse and the game was televised in central NY. I was at Lynah but recorded the game to watch later. Binghamton went down 1-4 but came back to tie 4-4 in regulation -- Ryan had one of the comeback goals and an assist on the tying goal. Still tied after OT so on to the shoot out. Both Ryan and Charlie scored in the shootout for Binghamton who pulled out the victory [3-2 in the shootout] -- 5-4 final score. Great to see two recent Cornell hockey alums still playing the game they love and doing so successfully!

They were doing the post-all-star game debrief on hockey in Dallas, and after mentioning the growth in the number of sheets and travel teams, McKee was prominently mentioned as a local boy making good. Doug was a +2 in a 3-2 loss to Dallas tonight. Dallas tied the game at 2 with 3 seconds left in regulation, and then won it in a SO.

I was driving through Phoenix yesterday in a rental car with XM radio, listening to Channel 172, a French Canadian sports station. They were discussing whether the Canadians would be interested in trading for Forsberg and suggested that Ryan O'Byrne might be a player that the Flyers would be interested in (this all based upon my roughly 25% comprehension of what they were saying - I figured it was an opportunity to brush up on my French and get a hockey update at the same time). Pretty surreal to be driving through Phoenix and hear Ryan O'Byrne being discussed at this point in his career.
