2/21: Quinnipiac Game Watches Nationwide (post yours here!) - 11 years ago
With a rare opportunity to catch our team on television out-of-area, I thought some Cornell fans might be organizing game watches with their local alumni association chapters. If so, please post yours here so alums in your area will know! Here's what the Charlotte chapter will be up to: The Cornell Alumni Association of Charlotte will be meeting at Angry Ales (also check out their Facebook). Tby CornellChris - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Quinnipiac on NESN - 11 years ago
Great news! Also, a rare opportunity for alumni association chapters around the country to get together for a hockey game watch. If nobody objects, I think I'll start a separate thread for people to post any details on game watches in their area. My chapter (Charlotte) will be meeting at Angry Ales, 1518 Montford Drive, Charlotte, NC, 28209.by CornellChris - Hockey
Re: David Archer new head football coach - 12 years ago
So it's finally happened... Cornell's new football coach graduated after I did. I'm officially old. Does this mean I have to stop being optimistic at the start of each season, and just assume we'll lose every game by 40? I've heard such good things about being a curmudgeon.by CornellChris - Other Sports
Re: Yale at Cornell Football - 13 years ago
Ugh. Field looks awful. I get that other sports use Schoellkopf, but clean it up when you're actually on national TV. All those extra lines make us look lke a glorified high school.by CornellChris - Other Sports
Re: Schoellkopf Field to get new video scoreboard - 14 years ago
Scersk '97 Strongly, strongly disagree. The scoreboard, as currently controlled, detracts from the gameday experience by presenting a loud, annoying sideshow of crap, including the "kiss cam," Clarkson-style clapping hands, and everything else that makes me puke. If they could keep it to replays and information on the players, I'd have no problem with it. And commercials? Fuck mby CornellChris - Other Sports
Re: Schoellkopf Field to get new video scoreboard - 14 years ago
Yes, there were a few ads. Both Ciao Pizza & Pasta (with which I wasn't familiar) & Time Warner got text ads at the bottom of the scoreboard throughout the game. They also played one actual commercial a couple times during breaks in the action. I'm totally blanking on the product, but it's an ad you would have seen on TV. Overall, nothing too annoying. They're still working out the kinby CornellChris - Other Sports
Football "Red-White" Spring Game? - 15 years ago
Has anyone heard anything about the spring game yet? I'm assuming Coach Austin intends to continue the tradition of the Red-White game, but I feel like we should have heard something about it by now. The game, if it's going to be played, should be played in the next 2-4 weeks, correct? In past years they even had a draft in which the players picked the teams. A fun way to (unofficially) kick offby CornellChris - Other Sports

Re: Latest Cornell football candidates - 15 years ago
dbilmes Lauren's on the right track here. We should just drop football. It's got to be costing much more money than it's bringing in, even if we don't give athletic scholarships. Most of the students could care less (with the exception of the players, of course). Based on decades of mediocrity, it's hard to see the program being turned around in a short time span. Re: Paul Pasqualoni, Cornell HC?_ NOPE - 15 years ago
ugarte Rita You can cross Pasqualoni off the list. He has been hired as the D-Line coach by the Dallas Cowboys. The only list of Cornell coaching candidates that Pasqualoni was on was this thread. To be fair, I never suggested he was a candidate. I only asked what people thought about the idea of him coaching Cornell. At this point I'm hoping for Penn State's Ron Vanderlinden (who is a candidatby CornellChris - Other Sports

Re: Latest Cornell football candidates - 15 years ago
I would be happy with Austin, but I like the idea of Vanderlinden as well. Several of my Penn State alum friends would be crestfallen if he were to leave. He's the heart & soul of "Linebacker U." I would be less enthusiastic with a Shea hire. I'm actually of the mind that an older coach is the way to go. However, I feel like we can do better should we go that route.by CornellChris - Other Sports
Paul Pasqualoni, Cornell HC? - 15 years ago
Former Syracuse University head coach Paul Pasqualoni just got canned by the Dolphins. He was their defensive coordinator. With the Cornell head coaching job still vacant, anyone think this is an option worth pursuing? or are we better off going with a younger "up and coming" type candidate? In related news, FootballCoachScoop.com is reporting that we interviewed Terry Shea, former Rby CornellChris - Other Sports
Re: cornell basketball @ syracuse tues 11/24 7pm on espn360.com - 15 years ago
phillysportsfan I am heading up to Syracuse for the game and wanted to know if anybody knew any good cheap places to eat in Syracuse? You can't get any cheaper than FREE... Cornell Alumni Association of Central New York will be doing a pre-game event at Faegan's (734 S Crouse Ave). Free appetizers, but cash bar. Should be a nice turnout of Big Red fans. Starts at 5pm.by CornellChris - Other Sports
Cornell Section @ MSG? - 15 years ago
Could somebody please tell me which sections at Madison Square Garden have been designated as official "Cornell sections" for Red Hot Hockey II? Honestly, at this point I'm getting kind of desperate just trying to find ANY tickets, but if a choice presents itself I'd like to be with the Cornell fans. Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been previously asked. -Chrisby CornellChris - Hockey
Cornell Football Spring Game - 16 years ago
The spring game is this Saturday. Has anyone heard any more about it? The official site is still listing the time as "TBA" and they haven't said if we'll need to purchase tailgate permits (as fans had to for the lacrosse game last weekend). I imagine we won't, but it would still be nice to know for certain as I plan to do my fair share of tailgating. Anyone else planning on attending anby CornellChris - Other Sports
Looks like Cortland - 16 years ago
Jets favor SUNY Cortland (from Syracuse Post-Standard) The New York Jets have picked SUNY Cortland over three other Upstate New York colleges as their top choice to host the team's training camp and serve as their new summer home. Sources familiar with the decision said Tuesday that the extra costs of moving the Jets to Cortland - estimated at $600,000 to $800,000 - remain the only factor holby CornellChris - Other Sports
Cornell Section @ Carrier Dome? - 16 years ago
Thought I'd check out the Cornell/Syracuse lax game tonight. I see the Syracuse student section appears to be in 117-118. I believe everything is general admission, so just wondering where I should sit to be in the "Cornell section." Thanks everybody! -Chrisby CornellChris - Other Sports

Re: Watching in Ithaca Questions - 16 years ago
Normally I'd catch the game on TV at one of the many Cornell friendly bars in NYC. However, I thought this year it would be fun to make the drive to Ithaca and watch it there. As such, a few questions if someone would be so kind as to help me out: 1) I see there's a Lax game that same day at noon. Since I'll be in town anyway, I figured I'd take in that game as well. How's the tailgating sceneby CornellChris - Hockey
Re: NCAAs on TV - 16 years ago
That pretty much describes my problem with CBS College. Why bother having an HD channel at all when almost nothing you show is filmed in HD? In the case of ESPNU, however, I have actually been surprised by the number of events (including supposed "lesser" sports) with true HD feeds. As such, I'd put the odds at about 50/50 we'll actually get HD cameras on site.by CornellChris - Hockey
Re: NCAAs on TV - 16 years ago
Jim HylaBummer, I wish we'd have been on HD. Depending on your cable provider, ESPNU is available in HD. It was a recent (and extremely welcome) addition to my own HD channel lineup. I would say the same about CBS College, but that appears to be "HD" in name only.by CornellChris - Hockey

Is anybody in the NYC area, listening on 1130, and willing to do score updates? I am unimpressed by the frequency of ESPN.com's updates... I live in New York, but of course this game would occur the one week I'm out of town.by CornellChris - Other Sports
Cornell v St Johns MBBall Preseason NIT - 16 years ago
Big game tonight! Anyone know a way to listen online? Couldn't find a feed on either school's website. WPIE 1160AM in Ithaca doesn't have an online feed. Maybe WBBR 1130AM out of NYC will be streaming?by CornellChris - Other Sports
Re: Hoops-NIT Brackets Announced-Red No. 9 Seed - 17 years ago
I'd say we have a decent enough chance of advancing. We were certainly placed in the most favorable region. We could beat any one of these three teams... but they could also easily beat us. St. John's, a once proud program, has fallen on hard times and I'm beginning to wonder if it's even possible for them to turn it around. Last year they lost to teams like Niagara, Tulane, and Ohio, which woby CornellChris - Other Sports
