Re: Offseason wrestling - 3 months ago
dbilmes A top-ranked Cornell wrestling recruit from New Jersey is in the news for going into the stands in response to taunting from opposing fans. He and his father have both been charged with simple assault. Cornell coach Mike Grey said the school is still expecting him to wrestle for the Big Red.You're damn right he will. rss77 Let us not forget the great lacrosse goalies we have had: Dan Mackesey, Paul Schmoler, Chase Ierlan, Butch Hilliard, John Griffin and the guys from the 1971 team (Bucky Gunts and cannot recall the other one) at some point we're just naming guys we like instead of the elites of cornell history but that's ok too.by ugarte - Other Sports

David Harding RichH ugarte Isaiah Cortez '30 is going to U20 Worlds at 60kg. Class of ‘30? Now you’re just making up numbers. With both Cortez brothers listed as '30, are they twins?yes. they are going to take a greyshirt year (not enrolled but training at the RTC with substantial staff overlap and probably taking some classes at TC3) then come to Cornell. there are other '30s on the list asby ugarte - Other Sports

Re: Offseason wrestling - 3 months ago
We have some recruits and underclassmen wrestling in the U20 and U23 final qualifications this weekend. I'm not going to post everything, but today was the Greco U20 qualification. Isaiah Cortez '30 is going to U20 Worlds at 60kg. His brother Elijah lost in the 63kg semi. Marcello Milani '28 lost in the U23 semis at 60kg. Upcoming this weekend, freestyle: U20: 57kg Anthony Knox '30 -by ugarte - Other Sports

You need to add Diakomihalis, Dean and Arujau to the wrestling list as 4x AA with at least two nattys. Arujau (Gold/Bronze) and Diakomihalis (Silver) also world medalists. Should probably add Seth Payne, who opened the holes for Levitt and had a far better NFL career. Even got drafted a few spots ahead of him. JC Trotter, too. OL gets no respect!by ugarte - Other Sports

Re: CORNELL WINS 2025 MENS LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! - 3 months ago
CU77 That timeout was nowhere close to "one of the worst ever"! In the moment, I agreed with it. Cornell looked to be about to lose the ball, and I felt that early momentum just after halftime in a one-goal game was important (and so, apparently, did Buczek). You are correct that the player on the ground (Gilmartin I think) flipped a great desperation pass that was successful, but Bby ugarte - Other Sports
Re: CORNELL WINS 2025 MENS LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! - 3 months ago
Chris H82 The other thing we noted was that Coach Buczek made really good use of his timeout calls a couple of times, when we had barely gotten the ball into the offensive side of the field but our player was at risk of losing the ball.also one of the worst timeout calls ever! ended up having no impact, but calling a timeout a minute into the second half when a player fell down just as the playerby ugarte - Other Sports

arugula ugarte arugula That was fantastic. I drove my graduate home today, avoided the score and watched the game tonight. Almost as good as if it were hockey! Added bonus was that at the Government department graduation ceremony the Dean mispronounced Knust. Wyatt wasn’t there of course but a reminder of priorities. I feel very happy for the graduation and the lacrosse just makes it better.by ugarte - Other Sports

stereax Welcome to eLynah. We just won a national championship - the first time since my parents were born, almost - and before the day is done we're already complaining about the merch for the national champions. mike1960 There's a tendency to let down with a lead. We cannot let that happen. Traynor intends to take over this game in the fourth. Traynor and Kirst have both been well covered but our team has done a better job of filling the gaps - except for their 51 who has been outstanding.by ugarte - Other Sports

BearLover Dafatone Here I am, all excited to see Harvard's roster get shredded by an apparent ban on international students (look, you gotta take joy in what you can), and all but seven guys on their roster are American. And only two on their women's roster. Everything is the worst. Um, let’s just hope he doesn’t target Cornell next. Because that would be a de facto death sentence for us.spby ugarte - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Albany 5/11 - NCAA Lacrosse First Round - 3 months ago
CU77 No, not as tightly. But the situation you describe is rare. Remember that 3 players on each team (nominally the midfielders) are free to move across the line. So the much more common situation is that a pole carries the ball across the line; as he does so, a middie (still in the defensive zone) notices, and so does not cross the line. No one needs to run back to the defensive zone.got itby ugarte - Other Sports
