Re: Opponent and other news and results of interest 2024-2025 - 3 days ago
Clarkson already managed to lose their star goalie recruit, Jackson Parsons. Has already been mentioned by Adam and Mike McMahon but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these CHL guys flake on college teams halfway through the year because they aren’t getting the playing time or development that they’re looking for.by chimpfood - Hockey
Re: Turn the page: the 2025 second half - 3 days ago
All ECAC academic team was released and we had 27 guys on it. Kind of switches from praising guys for good performance to shaming the ones that didn’t make it when everyone but two players (Donaldson and Major to save you time) make it. All American scholars are Kovich, Mack, Psenicka, Rego, Devlin and Stanley. Stanley also got ECAC commissioners list, whatever that means.by chimpfood - Hockey

Alexis Cournoyer goes to Montreal in the fifth round, 145 overall.by chimpfood - Hockey

adamw one thing that might happen, is NHL teams will be less likely to take NCAA-bound players in the later rounds.Absolutely, was just thinking that this hurts the chances of DiGiulian and Cournoyer getting drafted (but I guess helps us). Does anyone know if players drafted under the old rules are going to be immediately subject to the new ones or will there be grandfathering in? This is relevanby chimpfood - Hockey

Mike McMahon reports that NHL draft rights will expire at 22 for all players now. I’m curious how this will affect us and our tendency to bring in older players.by chimpfood - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2026 and Beyond - 10 days ago
Henri Ament to the WHL Now we should have a recruit in each CHL league next year, with Marmulak in the Q and Dec in the OHL. On Dec, I am very excited to see what he can do this season. He had good production with St. Andrews and was a point a game in a small OHL sample size. Edit: Whoops didn’t realize Penticton had jumped to the WHL so I guess we already had Louis Wehmann in the leaguby chimpfood - Hockey

LetsGoTech16 Cornell vs US NTDP on October 25th.Awesome. I love the NTDP games even though it doesn’t seem we gain a recruiting advantage from them lol.by chimpfood - Hockey
Re: 2025-26 Incoming Freshman and Transfers - 11 days ago
It’s nice that even though DiGiulian’s reviews aren’t too hopeful on his NHL potential, they think he’ll be a nice college player. It’s nice when we have guys in the NHL but anyone who can give us college production is very exciting. It’s great to hear that the work rate is the best trait of a guy that was almost a point a game in the USHL.by chimpfood - Hockey
Re: 2025-26 Incoming Freshman and Transfers - 14 days ago
One week until the NHL draft, our two possible draftees this year are incoming freshmen Alexis Cournoyer and Gio DiGiulian. Both are looking like 6-7 rounders but if I had to guess I would assume that both do end up getting drafted. If that does end up happening we would have a haul of 10 draft picks on the roster next year.by chimpfood - Hockey
Re: Future Predictions - 17 days ago
With the hope of sparking some conversation, here are my three biggest questions for our returning players next year. 1. Can Castagna put up points? You don’t have to watch too much of his game to see how he went in the third round but Castagna had not put up points for us like I would expect. If he can make the jump to challenge Walsh to be our top scorer that would be a massive help to theby chimpfood - Hockey

Walsh and Bancroft on the bruins dev camp roster. Walsh listed as limited to off ice activity, I think he had a cast/sling this spring so not surprising. Also on the roster is Ben Robertson.by chimpfood - Hockey
Re: Meinig Fieldhouse Construction - 22 days ago
David Harding billhoward Trying to learn more about the size of Brown indoor turf field vs. Meinig Field House. Cornell's is listed as 91,150 SF, Brown at 76,000. For reference: Football field with end zones is 120 x 53.3 yards = 39,600 sf (1 acre = 43,560 sf) Field plus 20 feet on each side = 56,000 sf Cornell says the practice turf measures 360 x 180 ft = 64,800. adamw chimpfood Look no farther than this year’s national champ, western Michigan, for evidence that a platoon can work until they decide it doesn't. Slukynsky started the last 10 games of the year. Something 2001-02 Cornell notably did not eventually do with LeNeveu. Actually went the other way, I think.Right, I wasn’t suggesting that we run a goalie platoon in the playoffs, I’m just in favorby chimpfood - Hockey

stereax BearLover stereax Also disputing Cournoyer as the favorite. I think Keopple is the favorite, Cournoyer is either 2 or 3 in line depending how the team views Katz. Though I expect to see Cournoyer given the opportunity to seize the net at some point. It's possible they pulled him here with the idea that he'd work at the NCAA level this year and become the starter next year. Not sure if Roeby chimpfood - Hockey

BearLover chimpfood Numbers are also shown on the roster. Gorski is 2, Veilleux 4, McCrady 7, Ryan 12, Fisher 16, Long 17, DiGiulian 18, Arsenault 19, Hiscock 21, Pirtle 22, Hamilton 26, Ashton 27, Cournoyer 30, Roest 40. I can’t remember another #40 for Cornell, anyone got one?Major listed as 9, good catch I didn’t notice that. Major was 16 last year. Is he changing numbers?by chimpfood - Hockey

Wow I’m surprised that Arsenault, Ryan, McCrady and Hamilton are all coming in, I expected more like two of the four to come in. I was also definitely expecting Pelletier but now he’s poised to be a big time USHL scorer, hopefully that’s better for his development than being on the bench here. Massive group of newcomers, excited to see what they’ve got.by chimpfood - Hockey

arugula BlueSky All this chatter and nobody mentions to two very important returnees in Walsh and Major who I may have chatted with at the Lax Championship...watching Lax win had those guys fired up and in reload mode, not rebuild. It's going to be another stellar year on the Hill. It's June, glass 3/4 full folks! Walsh the next Captain? My guess would be Walsh gets the C, Castagna and Stanleyby chimpfood - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 4 weeks ago
Yeah after a day to mull it over I think leaving Cournoyer in the Q another year and bringing in Roest this fall is the move. I trust Keopple to hold down the job pretty well.by chimpfood - Hockey

Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 4 weeks ago
That’s fucking big time let’s go. Wonder if we just let Roest walk because I want this kid in this fall. I could see a world where we leave him in the Q for another year though because he doesn’t have much CHL experience still. After all of the short goalies we’ve had 6 feet 4 inches sounds sweet.by chimpfood - Hockey

I would guess it’s Goldstein Firth and Nicolic on attack next year. Firth and Goldstein produce enough that they need to be on attack and Nicolic has size that we are gonna need after we lose CJ and Hugh.by chimpfood - Other Sports

djk26 chimpfood ER Congrats to all the seniors who graduated during the game yesterday. I am glad they didn’t miss out on that experience only to lose. They got a shout out right at the beginning of Kotlikoff’s speech. I was looking for that online and I didn't see it in the University President's speech--but then I realized there was a SECOND commencement ceremony and he mentioned it in his SECby chimpfood - Other Sports
