billhoward This from the Ithaca Voice. Says Cornell headcount grew wildly the last 3-4 years. Maybe Cornell did not replace some departed staff during the Covid years and then overdid the hiring: Matt Butler, EIC, The Ithaca Voice Cornell President Michael Kotlikoff and other university leaders delivered the news via a campus-wide email Wednesday [6/18/25] afternoon. chimpfood Intramurals never have access to varsity facilities. Soccer is on jessup road, not Berman field, flag football same spot. Hell basketball isn’t even on a real court, it’s inside Barton hall. That’s one change I have been wishing for a while now, let the non athletes use these nice facilities at some point. I get the main purpose is for the varsity teams but it would be more fun and eby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Maryland MENS LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 5/26/25 1 PM - 5 weeks ago
Weder BearLover Weder BearLover Sad about Stevens but understandable and he won us a natty so he will always be a Cornell legend. Does anybody know how much a Cornell lacrosse assistant probably makes? How about head coach? The Education Department tracks this, but the averages probably aren't particularly useful in trying to figure out what the pay for a specific position is (especially the onby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: CORNELL WINS 2025 MENS LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! - 5 weeks ago
Ken711 Does Connor Buczek get a raise or bonus for coaching his Cornell team to the National Championship? I'd be shocked if there isn't already a bonus provision in the existing contract that stipulates an incremental payout for season achievements (e.g. ILT championship, NCAA appearance, etc.). I'd guess a raise is built in, too, or a provision to renegotiate whatever the base salary is.by Iceberg - Other Sports

Re: Memorial Day Weekend Lacrosse Ticket Strategies - 6 weeks ago
Chris H82 I went back and forth for the last couple of days about traveling to Boston, and in the end I decided this might be the best chance to see the Big Red win a natty in my lifetime. So I've bought a plane ticket, and I got a ticket in Section 105 for Saturday's game - if we win that one, I'll figure out a ticket for Monday. Anyone have any suggestions for places to stay, either near Foxboby Iceberg - Other Sports

Yeah, I'm not convinced Syracuse gets past Princeton either. That was a game Harvard blew--Princeton isn't doing the same if put in the same situation in the 1st halfby Iceberg - Other Sports

Harvard up 8-2 at the Dome after the first half. Syracuse looking bad against a team they previously facedby Iceberg - Other Sports

Jeff Hopkins '82 Now 12-10 Spiders with 2 mins left. And 13-10 with an ENG. FINAL! Bye bye Tar Heels. Not surprised. I was kind of hoping to see Spencer Wirtheim (doing a grad year at UNC) play against his old team next weekendby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lax — 2025 playoffs - 8 weeks ago
Albany wins and so they'll have a 3-hour bus ride to Ithaca this weekend. At least Siena didn't have much of a long bus ride across town back and forth from Loudonville, in what was probably one of the shortest road trips for any visiting D1 lacrosse teamby Iceberg - Other Sports

Re: 2025-26 Incoming Freshman and Transfers - 2 months ago
I'm sure there's no shortage of good players who would transfer to Cornell as there are many good non-athletes who would do the same. I knew several people who transfered to Cornell when I was a student and they did just fine on campus and afterwards. IMO, being transfer friendly is a significant advantage over the other Ivys.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: We're gonna be in the news again - 2 months ago
I wonder how quickly they get someone else given the tight turnaround. I'm sure they had other options but as I said, I had no involvement in that group, so it may be harder than I thinkby Iceberg - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Ben Robertson transfer - 2 months ago
adamw BL will never admit he's wrong - so again, just for everyone else ... Mankato Assistant Coach reveals their two top recruits were paid $80-90k by a B1G school to decommit from MNSU Happening all over. Also, Denver coach (who I know well) is definitely fudging a bit. The school opted in for a reason, and whether this is NIL or Revenue Share money, is going to be irrelevant soon.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: We're gonna be in the news again - 2 months ago
Isn't that Slope Day? I'd say it's more on the planning committee than the administration. Then again, I was never involved in that work so maybe the admin has more of a say than I think.by Iceberg - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2025 4/14 4 weeks at No. 1 - 2 months ago
CU77 We want Yale to win. First because Yale has had better opponents: their average opponent's record is currently 0.644 vs Albany's 0.508. This goes into the opponents' opponents' contribution to Cornell's RPI. Second because Yale is currently #16, and we want them to stay in the top 20. Albany is #48 and has no chance as the top 20. The committee uses wins over top 20 as a selection criby Iceberg - Other Sports

mike1960 "Even at 20-12, who knows what can happen." You gotta like an announcer with this much optimism. Adam Pascal is the color guy's name, a high school coach. He's entertaining. Are you sure his name isn't Don Quijote de la Mancha?by Iceberg - Other Sports

The fact that he's at Michigan tells me it's less about academic reasons and more about other stuff (perhaps financial aid). Maybe we find out more later or maybe we don'tby Iceberg - Hockey

chimpfood How on earth do you register on fanlax? I’ve tried to to make an account multiple times but the confirmation question says “Paul and Gary’s last name. 4 letters.” I’ve tried putting random stuff but it says invalid answer. I don’t think I’m a robot but I cannot decipher what that means The answer is directly related to Cornell's opponent this weekendby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: Ben Robertson transfer - 2 months ago
I can't imagine he'll transfer to another ECAC school. I'd have to think he gets picked up by a team in another conference--likely HEA, Big10, or maybe even NCHC.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 2 months ago
BearLover Incorrect. Both Regush and Tupker graduated from Cornell. Says so right on their LinkedIn pages. Regush attended Miami for his master’s degree in accounting. Tupker graduated from ILR and then went to Union for a graduate degree in economics. This is something Regush could have done at Cornell, but as others have said or implied, a lot of it came down to COVID and uncertainty about whby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 2 months ago
sah67 BearLover I’m also really worried about Robertson’s decision setting a precedent for non-graduates transferring out, which never happened at all under Schafer. Justin Milo, Mike Regush, Joe Leahy...I'm sure there are others I'm not recalling at the moment. I thought Leahy was in the same boat as Green, Donaldson, Barron, and others in that class year due to COVIDby Iceberg - Hockey

dbilmes We get to look forward to watching another first-round NHL draft pick play for BU against Cornell at MSG this November: Sacha Boisvert, a member of CHN's All-Rookie Team and the NCHC Rookie of the Year, is transferring to Boston University, according to RDS in Canada.
