Cornell does not make it easy to follow our sports with no more WHCU broadcasts and limited streaming coverage this weekend. The only thing I could find on the Albany website is the CAA streaming service, but since I am already paying for ESPN + I don't want to order another service. Let me know if any of you posters have any suggestions? Go Big Red!

apparently it's on Flo, which is a subscription service that i pay for but that's part of the wrestling fanaticism.

True. Cancellation while paying for one day only was impossible the last time I tried.

Every year I buy season football tickets and donate to the program. Then I sign up for ESPN +. It just drives me nuts I can't even stream or listen to the game on Saturday night. Meanwhile Homecoming is just over two weeks away and I have not received any e-mails or snail mail from the athletic department. Like I said, Cornell does not make it easy to be a Big Red fan.

Not sure you caught it on the two deep, but Cornell's starting DL is especially small this year in weight. Hopefully they are very active and can swarm to the ball on run defense. Whether they can apply enough pressure to the QB on passing plays is another question mark.

Wonder if the weights have been updated - Swanstrom has talked about the big gains the team made in size & strength during the offseason.

At least the SID and AD listen now. This is much better than prior regimes which regarded their relationship with the fans with a piquant mixture of smug superiority and hapless technical ineptitude.

Contact them. Cite a specific issue and why it is a problem for fans. I believe the present regime is actually trying, and judging from the evolution of the SID's products they have far more functioning synapses than their antecedents.

Perhaps a good topic for the zoom town hall today?

From watching Dr Moore's town hall today she talked of the cost cuts that the Athletic Dept had to make. Just a guess here but that may be the reason they dumped Grady Whittenburg and cutting ties with WHCU per Cornell ice hockey.

Solid opening defensive stand. Two stops for short gains and a sack. Albany boomed the punt to the 15, though, so long field ahead. Longer after a false start.

Stopped at midfield, Cornell bluffs going for it on 4th but then Page quick kicks... to the 9! Hell of a punt by a QB to flip the field.

Defense stiffens and forces a FG. Good from 32. Albany 3-0, nearing the end of Q1.

I have no issue with the Flo TV guys, if they're different from the radio.

Terrible drop for Woodring on 3d and 12. At least they crossed midfield. Cornell punt went into the end zone, but Albany somehow committed a penalty on a punt with no return, so Albany starts on the 10.

QB draw to the 7, 1st and Goal... defense holds but the FG is good. Cornell cuts it to 6-3.

Should mention that Cornell is playing Lang and Bass-Sulpezio at QB on alternating drives. Bass-Sulpezio was under center for the scoring drive.

Great drive from Page, finishing with a 6-yard TD from Kurtz. Kurtz had a three catches on the drive including a one hand sideline grab for 24. 13-10 Albany with 3:38 to play. If we get the ball back, I assume Swanstrom will go hot hand again.

But yes, the lack of Musungu really hurts. Kurtz is the real deal as a 6'5 TE though.

Ugh. Page doesn't get enough air under the ball and an underneath defender reaches up and picks the ball off. He had a receiver open on a sideline route but the ball never made it there. Wrap it up.

Better showing than last year, certainly, at least on the defensive side of the ball.

Have always respected Jared Backus's coaching acumen per defense. He always get the best of talent available. Thought pass coverage was as good as I've seen in a while.

I was at the game and concur that the pass coverage was quite tight overall, although an Albany receive did drop a perfectly thrown bomb that looked like a sure TD in the 4th quarter. CB Michael O’Keefe, who had an INT, was especially good.

Offensively we really missed Wang’s dynamic ability. Page could run a bit, but his passing was meh, while Bass-Sulpizio clearly is the better passer but not much of a runner. Put them together and we’d have another guy like Wang. At running back it seems clear to me that Tucker is the more effective guy, but the coaches seem to like Pope; he’s just so small and can’t break a tackle. The pass blocking was pretty good, as I don’t recall our QB’s getting sacked once. Not much from the WR’s without Musunga, but Kurtz is a terrific tight end and will likely be the go-to guy this season.

The team played hard, but too often shot themselves in the foot with penalties and other mistakes. Not sure how many wins we’ll see, but I liked the fight they showed.

Yale has a much better offense than Albany and Cornell will be hard pressed to keep the game within reach. Cornell's offense has to score more than a couple TDs if they want any chance. I hope we see some of the freshman RBs get some playing time this season. With Pope's size he is more of a gadget 3rd down back, but not the type of RB that can run between the tackles and keep Cornell's defense off the field.

Right. I am hoping to see a 6'2", 210 pound tackle-busting, pile-moving freshman running back unveiled one of these weeks, along with a 6'4" 205 pound freshman quarterback with a slingshot arm. Else we're in for a long season.

First game and kind of what I expected against Albany. While our defense played very well, it was pretty much a lackluster offensive effort, with the exception of the TD catch by Kurtz near the end of the game.

While I like Swanstrom, he pretty much ignores the running game and that was the reason why Albany won and we didn't. The Albany running back rushed for 126 yards. In comparison, Cornell's running backs combined for a total of 47 yards on the ground. The other yards came from QB scrambles. Year after year it's "Rinse and Repeat", whether it's Swanstrom, Archer, Austin, etc. Cornell will never be competitive in the Ivy League without a strong running game. Ithaca is not Florida where you can spread out your receivers and pass for 300 yards every game. When I was at the Columbia game last November their running back rushed for 166 yards and our running backs ran for a "combined" 75 yards. Even though Wang scrambled for 100 yards, we still lost the game. It ain't rocket science but modern coaches want to pretend they are Clemson or LSU. Go Big Red!

Same feeling here. I'm hoping we see some of the young RBs they brought as the season progresses to start and develop a more balanced offense,
