Rentschler background info says "grass field."
Info lacking on which side of the field or which sections are Cornell for Saturday. Also which is the parking area for the Cornell-sponsored (BYO food) tailgate.
Rentschler buy-tickets landing page suggests majority of sections have limited or no availability. Hard to believe it's close to sellout. In the years of 40K+ attendance in Baltimore or Philadelphia, the quarterfinal sites often drew 10,000-plus). Semifinal attendance at Hofstra was announced as 5814 (Shuart Stadium capacity is 11,929 and in previous year, pre-Covid, mid-teens, it was close to sold out), at Columbus 3684 (Ohio Stadium capacty is 104,944).
Oh, yeah, the lower cost seats are $26. Plus $13 handling fees. Where's an attorney general when you need them?
I just went onto the ticket sales page and there are still a crap-load of seats in the upper deck. Plenty of seats behind the goals, too. Monday looks similar.
I'm driving up Saturday morning and staying with family in suburban Boston for the weekend. If we win Saturday, I'll buy a Monday ticket then, and go to Monday's game on the way home.
I figured out what's going on with ticket availability, I think. The site seems to be showing very different availability depending on which link you click to get to it. This link shows almost no seats available. This one shows many. There must be something going on in the parameters of the first URL that is filtering out available seats for some reason. There are also tons of tickets available on the usual resale sites, so I'm curious to see what the actual attendance is. (According to the Cornell ticket site, the official Cornell section is 102.)
I just bought a couple of seats in Section 202 in the deck above the Cornell section. Section 202 is close to sold out, but the adjacent sections have plenty of seats.
I'm in 203.
But from what I remember about these things, because there are four teams playing, the stadium will have plenty of seats available for people who won't show up until the second game. So I may try to sit in the lower bowl for our game.

For sports like lacrosse and football, I actually prefer sitting higher, as I get a better view of the entire field.

I agree with that for football. Sometimes I even like the upper deck for hockey - upper deck behind the net is a great spot to sit.
I've only watched one lax game from the upper deck. I don't remember much of the game. I just remember frying.

At one of the first round NCAA hockey tournaments in Worcester or Springfield, I sat high in the stands over one of the corners of the rink. Behind me was one of the great Meagher brothers from BU, scouting for an NHL team. He said it was the best place from which to see the game. Enjoyed some useful commentary on the game, too.scoop85

Lacrosse seats are in many ways similar to football. If you like to watch a play develop and understand the importance of all ball movement a seat in the second tier is a great perspective. Unlike hockey sitting behind the net in lacrosse is not a great vantage point (IMO) as you are typically too far from the field to appreciate the play on the near side of the field.

I'm about to start a flight that doesn't appear to support streaming (thanks United). What's a good website to keep up with scores as the game progresses? Fanlax or something like that? Or here?

I'm sure there will be some running commentary on fanlax and here. To keep up to date on the score, the inside lacrosse scoreboard page usually has a pretty barebones box score page that should be reasonably in sync with the game.

Watching Cornell-Rutgers from Wiseguys, the mega sports bar a block downhill from the Lake Placid hockey complex. Sort of wishing I was there ... until this loooong delay. We feared Wiseguys would be packed with Memorial Day weekend, threatening weather, NHL on TV also NCAA softball and lax. Nope, when we talked in, we were the only customers.
In person Monday for sure, presuming no SF collapse ~ Cornell-Wisconson hockey collpase. Up 5-2 early in the third, lost OT 6-5.

Seriously tho, would they have run the table If they were an ivy school and had to play the rest of the league and the ivy tournament?

Maryland has been a terror all year but if Cornell plays their best, this will be a game.
I am in County Kerry, Ireland, with terrible wifi, so I can only check scores and cheer from afar. Go Big Red!

You know. This is a great moment for this team and you keep posting these bitter messages. stop hating so much.Trotsky
We're back and everybody there is drunk. There are so many trashed rich whites in the stands it looks like a Dump wedding.
When we eventually liquidate these families it will be somewhat of a waste. That money buys a lot of after market improvement.
But not so trashed they went out and got blurry tattoos.
Me, I think this is a kumbaya moment and we should even feel sorry for our brothers and sisters of Old Nassau.
Also, looks like RichH's Thread of Destiny subject line is no longer woofing. Remember it was Quint who posited before the playoffs began that Cornell was not a team capable of a "deep run" in the playoffs. We crossed that bar making the final four.
I am so looking forward to Monday.

Couldn't attend the semifinals (and good thing given the weather delay), but will make the trip for the game tomorrow. It's nice to go into a game without the weight of expectations. I just hope we play up to our capabilities, and we'll see how that measures up to this Maryland juggernaut. LGR!

I think Quint is a pretty decent analyst and never found him anti-Cornell (He backstopped the Hopkins championship over Cornell in 1987). Anish is a little too pro Syracuse and Carc tends to go over the top in overpraising some players is my assessment Ryan Boyle is a much better analyst and IMO the key to being a good analyst is never to refer back "When I played". Hoping for best tomorrow and looking to Piatelli to break Mike French's record. Also a shout out to Christian Swezey's book "We Showed Baltimore". Excellent book for any lacrosse fan no matter where you attended school.

Only want to see him win a title like French did. I dc if he has 10 assists with zero goals. I’m sure he feels the same way.

Oddsmakers have Maryland as 7.5 goal favorites over Cornell. I’m no gambler but that’s a tempting line to take Cornell to cover.

The hybrid undergrad/alumni band (spanning the classes of '75-'25) will be in 129 if that helps. I don't get the sense there was much attention being paid to where people were sitting Saturday vs what the tickets said either.

Just fell short, but too big a hole ultimately. The Cornell defense was outstanding, especially after the 1st quarter. We hit 3 pipes, and McEnaney was terrific, although their D forced us into a lot of tough shots. But what a ride for this team, and we acquitted ourselves so well against a team people have been calling the best of all time.

Incredible first 10, incredible last 20. When Maryland got the offense clicking it was terrifying and McNaney was near-impenetrable. I don't know what we could have done better that seemed achievable. Heck of a run to close out the year. LGR.

The coaching staff did an unfathomably good job. I don’t understand how this was even possible after the last two years.
That said, the transfer portal (in conjunction with the blanket fifth year of eligibility) is more garbage that we are going to have to contend with going forward. A first-team all-American midfielder graduates from Cornell. Next year, he and his sixth-year senior teammates score enough goals to make the difference against Cornell in the championship game. How much sense would that have made to anybody five years ago?

I felt sorry for the Cornell pep band at the game. They barely got a chance to be heard over the too-loud stadium sound system. Since this was a college championship game you would think the NCAA would give a pep band from one of the participating schools a chance to be heard at least a few times during the game. But sitting across the field from the pep band, I wouldn't have known they were there if I hadn't seen them preparing to go to their seats.

The loss stings but there is a lot of positives to take away.
1. The team made what is probably one of the best every Lax teams play a full 4 quarters to win.
2. The defense was epic. They held a great offense to 9 points. They forced a lot of turnovers and were tenacious on ground balls
3. The offense did not fold and made a great run at the end.
4. Nobody expected us or the other Ivy's to run deep into the season.
5. I suspect that it will be a lot easier to recruit in the near future. I am going to guess that playing for Coach Buczek will be a draw given what he has done. He is only 10 or so years older than the 18+ year old players he is recruiting and had the credentials that will impress.
Thanks to all the seniors for a great year! LGR

Congratulations to both teams. What an amazing effort by Cornell. That showed a lot of guts and the graduating seniors, who contributed so much to this program, should absolutely walk away with their heads held high. While it's tough to come up just short, this feels better than the last time Cornell was in the championship game.
The future of Cornell lacrosse looks bright with Connor Buczek at the helm. As Quint Kessenich said during the semifinal, "I have to be honest, they [Cornell athletics] are going to have to open their wallet to keep him [Buczek]." I know that Kessenich is not the most popular person among Cornell fans, but I can't disagree with him here.
Maryland is one of those once in a generation teams (I hope...I obviously don't want to see them have the same unbeatable season next year). Congratulations to Coach Tillman, who went to a pretty good school himself.
However, Maryland's championship can't be considered legit until they play Notre Dame, at a date and location to be determined by the Pope himself.

Absolutely, I’m certain that every top recruit was watching on ESPN. The announcers praised the Cornell program and spoke highly of its storied history. A first-team all-American midfielder graduates from Cornell. Next year, he and his sixth-year senior teammates score enough goals to make the difference against Cornell in the championship game. How much sense would that have made to anybody five years ago?
I don't know how the NC$$ determines Coach of the Year. But it's hard to imagine anyone but Buczek and his staff deserving it more. Tillman did a great job, but he had a loaded deck. Buczek, OTOH, drew an inside straight.
The award isn't given until December at the men's lacrosse coaches summit. (see last year)
That Tillman hasn't won it is mind boggling

…and doesn’t bode well for anyone else winning it this year after the year MD had.scoop85

The USILA presents the Morris Touchstone Award to the coach of the year. Three Cornell head coaches have won it a total of five times (Moran 1971, 1977, 1987; Pietramala 2000; Tambroni 2009). Tillman has yet to win one.Swampy

We move up 8 spots to No. 2 in the final media poll of the season. Five Ivies ranked in top 10.
