Yeah, I know it's early, but we're driving up for the game tomorrow and I 've got a few questions. Is the band going? Who else? Any of you? Does anyone know if Cheel has wireless access? My daughter would like to bring the laptop if it's useable. How about any of you Clarkson grads, any help? Thanks, I'm psyched.:-D

Cheel has restricted wireless access, only users with Clarkson student/staff ID's can register their computers on the network unfortunately.

If you get up there early you can bum around town, go to the Bagelry. Have a big beer at Eben's across from campus or get a $1.00/$1.50 beer at Club 99 inside of the campus center. I suspect things will be a little quieter than usual as winter break starts on Saturday.

Enjoy the trip up.

As an aside, anyone watching Ohio-Mich b'ball on ESPN? They have a sea of maize, with the students not only standing, but jumping up and down when OSU has the ball. Check it out.

Sounds like the BC/Duke game last week. The BC kids were crazy, I guess tickets were going for $800 outside of Conte which just doesn't seem to be a great venue for basketball. Busy watching the Bruins throw a million shots on Brodeur to no avail, maybe it'll tire him out for the Olympics.

Ron, I thought Cheel had free wireless internet access in the common area, when did that change?

Jim, safe ride, bring your own food and women. Beer they have plenty. Best of luck....Saturday! :-D
Cheers!

They may have a couple of years back but recently they've gone to requiring MAC registration on campus. I was unable to get anything last time I was up. Still, you might be able to find an open access point somewhere around there!

nothing on any of the wifi hotspot locators but... you may be able to find an unsecure one on campus. There is usually one around in most neighborhoods :)

Thanks, I might call up there tomorrow.

Hey guys, do you really have to bait him? We've had a nice discussion, and some help for me, from some Clarkson grads. Why can't we leave it there? Does Nickerson really need to be brought up. Think about it.rolleyes

Huge weekend.

24 cor (13 CLK; 18 SLU)
23 col (18 SLU; 13 CLK)
20 DRT (12 qpc; 13 prn)
19 HVD (13 prn)
18 SLU (23 col; 24 cor)

And afterwards we'll all have 18 GP.

This is SLU's make-or-break weekend; they've recently hit the skids after a great start, they're at home, and IMHO they've been playing below their potential and are really dangerous.

Dartmouth will be back in the mix after a presumptive 4-point weekend.

Colgate and Cornell can make it a 2-team race if they do well.

Any helpful mathematicians want to tell me who I should be rooting for in Colgate's games against Farkson and SLUt? That's aside from the fact that we'd like to stay in first place - to the extent possible, we control that bit of our destiny. I'm thinking more in terms of RPI and PWR.

The only PWR consequences I can think for the intra-ECAC games is pushing teams in or out of TUC. TUC is based on RPI >= .500. (still? right?) Here are the RPI for all the ECAC teams:

.5524 Cornell
.5259 SLU
.5245 Harvard
.5206 Colgate
.5135 Dartmouth
.4931 Clarkson
.4876 Princeton
.4841 Union
.4828 Quinnipiac
.4794 RPI
.4741 Yale
.4540 Brown

We would like to push Dartmouth out of the TUC, so any time they lose that's peachy. We would like to elevate Clarkson into the TUC *if* we beat them today, so if we win tonight we'd like to see them start winning, while if we lose we want them to start losing. We don't want Colgate to take such a tumble that they drop out, but I doubt that's possible. We don't want Princeton to go on a tear and get into TUC -- again, that looks mighty unlikely.

So I think this means:

It's safe to root for Colgate to lose to SLU to give us some breathing room at the top, then root for Colgate to do the opposite of whatever we do to Clarkson.

That's easy enough. Thanks!

So, who's making the North Country Trip? (Not I - just curious.)

I'll be at both games in my #1 red jersey. 2nd row section 12 tonight. Not sure where tomorrow. Getting tickets at Ag Alumni dinner before game. Dinner at SLU this year after being at Clarkson last year.

As Trotsky suggested, if Cornell wins tonight I'm more than happy to root for Clarkson tomorrow night. :-}

Good luck this weekend, and enjoy the games - I won't be able even to listen to them (with the possible exception of the very end of tonight's).

Don't you ever get tired of saying that?

I think you should try looking in the mirror when you say it. It's a better fit.

Geez, telling him to "always" root for Clarkson was just a humorous comment.

Either sarcasm is lost on you, or you are on an entirely different level of sarcasm than the rest of us, in which case I applaud you.

Edit: err...facetious-ness might be a better word than sarcasm here (if it is even a word...heh)

in case anyone has problems accessing the clarkson radio stream... (windows media player doesnt recognize the .pls file...), just open up windows Media player, right click, select open URL, and enter "[hockey.clarkson.edu]; without the quotes.
