Lynah Faithful of the world - unite!

Lynah Faithful of the world - unite!

Fellow Lynah Faithful,

I know that some of the issues I’m about to mention have been discussed on this forum before. Hell, maybe the entire suggestion which I have has already been proposed in a thread that I don’t know of. That said, please bear with me.

Reading some of the threads these past few weeks has led me to wish the Cornell Hockey fans could be better organised. After all, one of the main threads for the past few days has been in an attempt to get as many people as possible to “red out” Lynah for the Clarkson games. Another thread has explored the option of making Cornell Hockey caps. The problem being the need for a large order and the getting Cornell’s permission for the logos. There are other threads that often lament the lateness of fellow fans, as well as the fact that people get so many chants and traditions wrong (jinxing a shutout with key jingling, stretching out the “Die”, etc.).

I feel that a lot of the above mentioned problems, as well as those I haven’t even mentioned, can be addressed, if not solved, by an actual student organisation of the Lynah Faithful. I’m sure it would attract a lot of members, and with some advertising, arguably most of the season ticket holders. This would make getting word about plans to wear red a lot easier. Also, “classes” can be conducted to acquaint the freshmen with Lynah cheers (or to reacquaint others with the proper way to do it). Furthermore, as a student organisation it would be a lot easier to get a large enough order to make custom caps, shirt, etc. I also think it would be easier to get Cornell’s logo permission.

These are just some examples that jump to mind based on recent threads. I’m certain there are many others. Overall though, I think that organising a Lynah Faithful student organisation would go a long way to improving the atmosphere at Lynah even more. Funding for any activities can be requested from SAFC, Cornell Athletics, gathered through member donations or through fund-raisers. Mostly though, it would help to organise the Faithful so that doing things like the planned “C of Red”, which now can be challenging, would be a synch.

I doubt I’m the first to come up with this. Still though, what do people think?

Some students tried it last year; they called their group "The Red Line." It fizzled, though I don't remember exactly why. Age could probably explain more thoroughly.

Against. There are already enough self-appointed "Lynah Nazis" slinking around, why institutionalize them? Lynah's main charm is that it is "come as you are."

Students should come early, but, shrug... kids are kids -- try getting them to clean their rooms.

It aint broke, don't mess with it. Just MHO.

Yes, The Red Line was a student hockey association. Student interest was minimal, the organization never established a real direction to take, and it never went anywhere.
