The irony is that while a handful of select CSTV games are available ex post facto on Comcast's "On Demand" service in Philly, CSTV is NOT available as a channel to Comcast's Philadelphia customers (even though it's available to millions of Comcast customers in other regions).

I hate Comcast.

And now they're gonna build that fugly skyscraper in Center City.

CSTV is not available on the standard digital cable tiers in Boston. You have to pay $7/month for it (comes in a package with a couple of senseless channels like outdoor life)

I don't think its available in a default package anywhere, not even Ithaca, where you need the Digital Sports Pack (unless that's changed since August). Well, maybe somewhere, but if so, its very unusual.

ESPN is launching ESPN U in March...it is supposed to focus on college sports...they claim to have college hockey content

Yes, when Comcast offers CSTV, it's only available as a pricey add-on. (The same is true for DirecTV customers, who have to pay a lot extra for the "sports pack" in order to get CSTV.) Although that's irritating, it's not what really pisses me off. My reason du jour for hating Comcast is that in many parts of the country where Comcast has service -- including Philadelphia, the company's freaking headquarters -- CSTV is not an option, even if you decide you wanna fork out for the digital sports tier. It's just plain not available, at any cost, even though it's available in many other Comcast service areas.

ESPN U has posted a schedule of lacrosse games this spring, but all seem to be originating out of Baltimore. Have seen nothing specific re hockey.

Well, $12/month extra. But some of us were already paying that to get all the RSNs, which show a lot of college hockey themselves.

We have the same type of service (?) in my part of Virginia. Any idea on who makes the decisions about what games show up on the CSTV feed to "On Demand"? Is it Comcast or CSTV? I'd like to know who to rag on... I just upgraded to digital/hdtv service in mid-December and called Comcast to find out how this works and why the feed had been stuck on the UMD Denver game for a week . The service rep couldn't figure it out and suggested that I schedule a service call to see if there was something wrong with my hardware. nut
