CU at Harvard TV in San Francisco

I am trying to organize a viewing for folks in the SF Bay area to watch the Cornell at Harvard game this Friday at 5 PM PST (aka Happy Hour). Having it in the city is probably most convenient for the greatest number of people. Here are some choices:

Zeke's (600 Third at Brannan) - a top ten sports bar according to polls, seems accomodating and very close to Caltrain and BART.

Bayside (1787 Union) - voted the best Sports bar, very accomodating to special requests, a bit less convenient to get to

Joe Down's place in the Marina - Joe (Jeremy's brother) has graciously offered his place with a widescreen TV and a kegorator for up to 15 people. - best viewing but maybe we should save his hospitality for ECAC and (woof) NCAA time when we are fighting basketball.

I am interested in hearing your opinions and interest here or by e-mail. Please blow off work early and join us.

Roy

Last March, several Cornell games were shown at Scores Legendary Sborts Restaurant in San Mateo. I watched the Yale-Cornell game there with at least three dozen Cornellians.

Scores is now called the Rawlings All American Grille. The restuarant and bar gets DirectTV and subscribes to the appropriate sports package. I called a little while ago, and the game will be shown there as long as it is available (as it should be). Although I live in the East Bay, I suggest we meet there.

The address is 2200 Bridgepointe Parkway in San Mateo. Here is the website: [www.rawlingsrestaurants.com].

Another possibility is to have multiple Bay Area viewings. People who work in the Peninsula or South Bay would have a tough time to get to San Francisco, and people working in San Francisco might not be able to get to San Mateo.

In San Francisco, Zeke's is probably the best option because it is within walking distance for people working downtown and easily accessible by BART, MUNI, and Caltrain.

Thanks for your input Craig.

I watched last year's exciting ECAC final at Scores/Rawlings. It is a good venue but I am trying to unite the Bay Area fan base by picking a location that Penninsula/South Bay, and East Bay can all easily get to. For this reason I suggest that we go with

Zeke's (600 Third at Brannon).

I spoke with Tim at Zeke's and he confirmed that they get CSTV and told me that it should not be a problem to tune a TV to the game.

You can easily get to Zeke's by foot from downtown, mass transit from the Penninsula/South Bay and East Bay. Being near PacBell it isn't too bad of a drive either.

So let's all take off from work a bit early and travel to the big scary city. It's a Friday. Your job isn't that important anyway:-)

Roll call.......

I'll have to pass :`( I'm already going into work late on Friday; I can't leave early as well. I sure wish they'd plan the Hahvahd game for Saturday once in a while! Anybody going to the Sharks game Saturday afternoon?

Dianne, Dianne, Dianne,

Not to pick on you becuase I appreciate your response but I will use your message as an example of the type that I hope not to see. twak

I dropped an undergraduate class at Cornell because the prelim conflicted with a Cornell-Clarkson regular season game. The point is that we need to set our priorities. I remember the OT goal at last year's ECACs but I don't remember what I did at work the day before.

So folks, unless we have brain surgery scheduled, let's get our butts to Zeke's. moon

See you at the Sharks Dianne!

I watched both Everblades games at Marina Sports Bar on Lombard St and had my very own huge flat screen. I'd be happy to find Zeke's and join other RED fans though - is Zeke's the final call for location or is the jury still out (selfishly, Marina is *much* closer)???

Go RED.

Okay, okay...how about I try to get there for periods 2 and 3? I'm guessing I'll need at least an hour to drive into the city (coming from Petaluma) and I could probably swing leaving work at 5. Is parking easy near Zeke's?

Marshall,

Yup Zeke's is the official spot based on location. I just sent a note to have it posted on the 700 member CAANC e-mail list.

Dianne,

Wow I actually shamed you into coming. I feel so bad. Zeke's is very near PacBell so there should be parking nearby. There are lots around PacBell.

[/Q]That's hard to believe, we got an Engr. prelim moved up so we could all get to a game. Now, if I could only remember which game it was. nut The midweek games then started at 8 PM, if I remember right, so we got the prelim started earlier to be done in time.

Best I can sey is that I proctored a prelim in '96 with headphones on, listening to the preliminary round playoff game at SLU. Periodically I would post the game score and time left on the blackboard, along with time left in the exam. I was disappointed to see that only a couple of kids seemed to care....

As for this Friday, I suppose I will drag myself up to Zeke's from Sunnyvale. Just have to decide on Caltrain vs. driving.

I guess it depends on the professor. This guy wouldn't budge. Actually, I always forget that I missed the first two periods of the legendary 6-5OT ECAC quarterfinal win over Providence because of a Chem 101 prelim (I couldn't exactly drop that class). I walked in and looked at the scoreboard only to see that we were down 3-0.

OK, this response is little more than a shameless bump. See you all at Zeke's!

Sorry I flaked on you guys...I was on my way down but traffic was so bad, it would've been 6:30 or later by the time I got there, so I turned around in San Rafael. Hope you all had a good time!

We did indeed have a good time. Brownie points for attempting to come.
