This is a more fantastic ending than the Q game!!

What I loved about this one is Cornell just regrouped after a rough second period and dominated. Third period it felt like they won every race and every board battle that mattered.

Also, two incredibly well-coached hockey teams. Support was impeccable, puck movement was good (MSU’s was great), forechecking and backchecking from every guy on the ice. Remarkable.

They have the Schafer storyline. They're lazy. I believe we may actually get our due in the QF.

In another weird twist, the crappy 3rd goal for Michigan State put them into a defensive shell for most of the third period looking to defend their 1 goal lead. Late goals didn’t give them enough time to get their offensive mojo going again. Good for the Red for taking it to them in the 3rd and controlling the bulk of the play. MSU of course was also cursed by the 18-0-2 after leading after 2 period quote by the announcers.

Holy fucking shit what a time to play your best.

After a subpar season, Robertson’s found his groove again in the postseason. His play along the boards where he got off the shot leading to Walsh’s tying goal symbolized the effort we played with that entire period. Make no mistake, MSU is a terrific team, perhaps even better than the Denver team that won the NC last year. But after looking like we didn’t belong on the same ice for good stretches of the 1st 2 periods, we imposed our will over the final 20 and won as Schafer-like a game as could be scripted.

I’m still in disbelief.

Right now I have: ESPN+ on Chrome cuz that's the best browser, MLBTV for the Mets on Edge cuz it won't run anywhere else, and the Goebels Network on Firefox for the Cornell audio cuz it won't run anywhere else, trapped in Nazi ads.
Nice setup. Get something open on Opera and you're hitting a grand slam.

They just know more about MSU -- natural factory school bias for Bristol. Like I said, I typically don't mind but this is more offensive than usual.

The CU feed is fine except for the occasional Sturmtruppen interloping.

Give it up for Ian Shane--34 saves today. When's the last time a Cornell goaltender had 30 saves (other than, you know, last year against Maine)? Probably not in an ECAC game.

Obviously the games from your college days always stand out. But, this one felt like Northeastern in 2009. Will remember both of them (and many others) for a long time.

Greening scored to tie with 4-5 mins left

Evan Barlow gives us the lead with 18 seconds to go [youtu.be]

Somehow solved Thiessen that day. Hobey Baker finalist. Hockey East POTY

Howard can go play a lot of Cornhole now!!!!
and he can take Augustine with him

He goes by Tre because he's James Augustine III. And he's a name... and number [zooms in on his jersey number which is somehow 1 rather than 3] to remember.
Kenneth James Augustine III. Trey. Wears... 1. Ok then. You'd expect 33, maybe, if you don't want 3 given that's a skater's number...

He’s honoring his grandfather for being the first. You really gonna hate on that fine young man?
ER, bud, I love Auggy and I have since probably the World Juniors this year. But tonight? Tonight I'm gonna make fun of him.

Has he even given up 4 goals in a game this year?

Ian was stellar. Our D was terrific at keeping shots to the outside and minimizing their chances. Hats off to them too.

Howard was such a non-factor in the third. Absolutely incredible job keeping him quiet late.

Sucks to have go to the Hobey ceremony after a 1st round bounce.

Thanks for that, i love the Schafer song!

The story on MSU goalie was what they showed on the ESPN series posted about yesterday...

Haha they relegated this game to the Plus since they thought MSU would win easily but we are the mighty Red!

Anyone going to Toledo who didnt make it out there today? Plenty of tix will be available!
Who was there today? Any reports/pics from the arena?

LGR!!!

MSU not the only team that rolls four lines! LGR!

Indeed. MSU is still the faster team but they look a little more tired to me.

Looks on their faces. They haven’t had to work exactly like this. They don’t even know what’s happening to them.

I just wanted to read this because it’s one of my favorite game posts I’ve made.

THEY NEVER SAW US COMING

I also called Mack scoring on a group text while we were down 3-2.

Verified.

Can I hate on that overly-produced dramatic video they made? His grandfather was 91 and passed away a few years ago. It’s a little sad, but it’s not like he overcame extreme adversity as the piece implied.

At least he didn't live to see this.

Pretty sure he had 30+ against BU at MSG last year, and he’ll probably need to make about that many on Saturday.

Holy Toledo

Cornell did it again, knocking off a 1 seed -- this time Michigan State, thanks to a PPG with 10 seconds left in regulation. The Big Red will play Boston University on Saturday. ... Not to be outdone, Western Michigan needed 2 OT, but survived in a 2-1 win over Minnesota State.

No, that was just. Stellar. I looked up when I saw that post and went "god damn, Rich is right, they look shellacked".

The contrast with the Cornell bench during the timeout at the start of that glorious power play was stunning.

That final 20-30 second sequence on the PP was so masterful, it's almost hard to believe we had it in us. We absolutely undressed Sparty with the last couple passes--those guys were practically shitting the bed. Champagne hockey. Cheers Schafe.

They just know more about MSU -- natural factory school bias for Bristol. Like I said, I typically don't mind but this is more offensive than usual.

The CU feed is fine except for the occasional Sturmtruppen interloping.

PBP guy went to Michigan State. Color guy went to Michigan.
