Referred to Statler & Waldorf as Sesame Street.

Bus in 20. Off engaging in my favorite activity (pressing myself into the hallway walls at Lynah and generally pretending not to exist).

Getting to the Frozen Four with all the other trophies already won, I think it's safe to say these ladies are playing with house money now. It's Bergmann who gives them a shot to win it all, in a lineup without any true superstars.

In the Halls, Episode However Many:
- Guilday spotted some kids wearing ECAC champs merch with her name and number on the back. "That's so cool!" Took pictures with them. Now having a chat with their parents. "It's far, it's really far" - I assume telling the kids they can't come to watch the Frozen Four. Now chatting about Ohio State. "You guys are the best, seriously!" :')
- Grober ditched her hat with her mother and scuttled off to chat with UMD 11. Might've gone to the same high school. Returned to her parents though.
- Regalado and Bergmann were pulled into the video room. Just hurried out, Regalado exclaiming something about "thirty-one hundred".
- Delianedis has a (girl?)friend here who's wearing a Superman cape with her number on it.
- I think the players on the team who didn't dress for the game today have on silly costumes. Saw a girl dressed as a bear and a girl in a red bodysuit.
- UMD fans and players have filtered out by now (19:05ish). A couple of dogs though - Avar's mom(?) with two dogs (one gold, one black/brown) and someone else with a golden retriever.
- "The Grobers are going to come with us, so that makes it ten - maybe eleven" (a couple presumably parenting another player, on presumably dinner plans)
Alright. Bus time for me. Good fuckin' game.

HAHAHA! ENTP here, actually, but approaching and chatting with people who are almost assuredly players' parents is terrifying... though I did have a few good chats with Guilday's dad a few weeks back.Trotsky
INTJs stand around self-consciously while not meeting each other's eyes!
Case in point, a girl who is possibly on the team but my facial recognition is awful rolls up to me and goes "are you Melissa?" and I, in my infinite wisdom, reply "no, sorry," and trip over myself apologizing multiple times for... not being somebody else. Shoot me now.

I think those might have been team alums. I saw most of the players who weren't in the lineup on the ice on the broadcast during the trophy ceremony, and they were all in regular street clothes.

Some very strange calls/no calls. a handful of icings with no call. Some blatant holding. the one in the 3rd UMD was just holding on the cornell leg and getting dragged,
The multiple offsides was funny, but live idea how good those calls were,
then out of nowhere a call late, though i thought it was a good call kinda strange to pocket the whistle all game until then
good energy.
Clark was in the game late
Colgate was in the gane late
STL is in the gane late
its doable,

Yeah, that's been a done deal for some time -- grad transfers don't have to wait for the window to open. Cornell even put out a video with her talking about her transfer in January or so.

This article, citing an anonymous source, says it's a medical redshirt: [www.duluthnewstribune.com]
Is it 30% of the NCAA max (as opposed to Ivy max), maybe? Or is a hardship waiver not the same thing as a medical redshirt?

Haven't we had athletes in other sports (or maybe even hockey) who've spent an extra year playing for Cornell thanks to medical red-shirts? (e.g. R. Pannell)

You have to unenroll from classes in most cases to do that, so I think the injury would have to come at a point where you're not too deep into a semester (unless you/your family is willing to take the tuition hit, I guess?) I think Pannell's injury came at a point where it was easier to decide to take a semester off from school?

Looking at the transfer portal, interesting to note that we have two other seniors in there -- goalie Belle Mendes and defenseman Alexa Davis. After playing in 87 games her first three years, Davis only played in one game this year. I'm assuming she lost her spot in the lineup, although she also may have been injured. Mendes played in 15 games as a sophomore, but has only played in a total of six games over the past two seasons, as she lost the starting job to Bergmann. I hope both of them find programs where they can close out their college careers playing regularly.

I know it's happened in football, but there it's easy to take the Spring semester off and finish in the Fall.

Ashley Messier came in as a first year in Fall of 2020. The Ivy League canceled sports that year, so she withdrew from Cornell to preserve her eligibility. She played the 21-22, 22-23, 23-24, and 24-25 seasons, so she has exhausted her Ivy eligibility. Since she first enrolled in 2020, she is entitled to a NCAA fifth year of eligibility due to COVID.

I don’t think this is right? Or if it is, it doesn’t make very much sense. The rule was that the COVID year of 2020-21 doesn’t count towards eligibility. Messier exhausted four years of eligibility not counting 2020-21. Therefore it was the medical waiver she received for her injury, not the COVID fifth year, that entitles her to an extra season.billchu

For the same reason, Penney, O’Leary, and Rego, who withdrew during the same season, will have exhausted all eligibility after 2024-25. They cannot transfer to another school for another year of hockey. Messier can, but only because she missed most of a year due to injury.

You may be right, but she did mention in her zoom interview from February 2021 that the NCAA had granted an extra year of eligibility. See around the 9 min 30 sec mark.
As regarding medical redshirting for the 22-23 season, she played in 11 of the 32 games that season, exceeding the 30% threshold.

Will be in Lake Placid watching the men's game and the women's game on my phone between periods. If I was going to be in Ithaca and the men weren't playing I would probably have gone to The Boatyard Grill for the watch party.

Inspired by a post in the men's 2025-26 thread:
For non-conference games, Cornell seems to have settled into playing AHA teams and then looking for a tournament (Nashville, D.C., Ice Breaker) where it can get a game against a top WCHA team. Hockey East seems to have fallen off the non-conference radar. Any thoughts teams folks would like to see the Red play?
For non-conference games, Cornell seems to have settled into playing AHA teams and then looking for a tournament (Nashville, D.C., Ice Breaker) where it can get a game against a top WCHA team. Hockey East seems to have fallen off the non-conference radar. Any thoughts teams folks would like to see the Red play?

I’m sure it won’t happen due to cost, if nothing else, but I’d love to see the likes of Wisconsin, Minnesota, UMD, and Ohio State for some 2-year home and home arrangements. Those would be really fun games.

Wisconsin did a home-and-home with Cornell a few years back, and OSU was at Lynah in 2019-20. Not sure if Cornell was supposed to go to Columbus in 2020-21 or not.
