Colgate, SLU and Cornell starting to separate from the pack a bit, but still a lot up in the air. Cornell is in decent shape for a first-round bye, but definitely doesn’t want to drop any points against Harvard.

Kicking Harvard's ass up and down the ice, 5-0 late 2nd.

Lily Delianedis just scored her 50th goal and 102nd point.

Cornell is up one notch to fifth, Colgate up one to fourth; St. Lawrence, Clarkson, Quinnipiac, Princeton in the top 15. Add in also-mentioned and the polls cover half the 36 women's D1 teams. One-loss Wisconsin has every first-place vote in the Jan. 26 polls.
Rnk	Team	(1sts)	Record	Points	Last Poll
1	Wisconsin	(20)	25-1-2	300	1

This may be the weekend to decide who tops the 2025 women's ECAC RS standings and has the best chance to host the ECAC playoff finals. All games including semifinals/finals are played on campus, the higher seeds host each game, and with six RS games left, first-place Colgate leads Cornell 38 points to 37.5 points, the half-point on account of a game tied after overtime awards 1.5 points to each team even though there is a shootout. (Regulation win is 3, OT win is 2 / OT loss is 1, shootout is point-less except to say "we won the shootout.";)

This is the weekend with the serious competition for #4 (polls) Cornell/#5 Colgate. Cornell hosts #6 St. Lawrence Friday at 6, #9 Clarkson Saturday at 3, Colgate has the opposite schedule. If Cornell wins both and Colgate loses one in regulation or OT, that'd put Cornell in a position to host the semifinals/finals March 7-8.

Cornell/Colgate close with away games at RPI/Union then at home Feb. 14/15 with Brown/Yale. Yale and Brown are also-receiving-votes in this week's national polls. Union and RPI are 9-10 in the league, ahead of only Dartmouth/Harvard. The first two rounds of the playoffs are similar to men's hockey: Feb 22 or 23, 1-4 seeds draw byes, 5-12 play single games, then Feb. 28-March 2 the survivors play best of three series.

They just had a short segment with Ashley Messier on the ESPN+ broadcast in which she said she’ll be a grad transfer at Minnesota-Duluth next year. (I assume she’s getting an extra year of eligibility for that one season she got hurt early on.)

Watching the 3rd, and this team looks FANTASTIC. I expected a small step backwards after losing the Patty Kaz winner to graduation. They’ve already beaten their 2024 specter in Colgate and are now punishing the #7 ranked St. Lawrence 5-0.

Amazing weekend with SLU and Clarkson coming to CNY, you’ve got four top-10 teams going at it.

The fans sounded great. This team deserves bigger crowds, and it looks like word is spreading.

Watching the last 2:00 of Clarkson-Colgate. I think I heard Clarkson has close to 60 shots.

I’ve never seen Colgate team wear blue before. Edit: Colgate ties it with 10 seconds left.

B and C were pretty full and roaring. The giveaway almost certainly helped (free t-shirt, yay) but VERY few Lynah Unfaithful today. If anything, MORE people came in after the first period, as opposed to leaving.

I would NOT have guessed SLU is ranked 7. Really?? We made them look like scrubs tonight.

It’s not an exact parallel by any means but this team sorta reminds me of that first team to make the Frozen Four — the season Rebecca Johnston was with Team Canada. There was no dominant player but a ton of really good players and scoring contributions from all up and down the lineup.

Can't say I'm familiar, but it definitely feels like, while we might not have any Daniel-level stars, everyone pulls their weight. To make a bad parallel, the Kraken in the 22-23 playoffs seemed similar - no "star power" but INCREDIBLY deep.

Practice the move during a live fire exercise, it may come in handy in the final stretch.

St. Lawrence is still third in the ECACs. It is nowhere near as bad as the score. It may well keep a top four spot although the difference between a 3- and 4-seed does not protect you from a dominant 1-seed, which way well be Cornell and Colgate, and they're evenly matched.

In the ECAC standings, Clarkson screwed us over by allowing Colgate to tie a 1-0 game with 9 seconds to play then won in OT. Had the Tarnished Knights held on, Cornell would have a a 2-1/2 point lead over Colgate rather than the 1/2 point lead. We still have a tough Clarkson team tonight (and Colgate a hopefully rebounding St. Lawrence). Then we and Colgate have the same four to play, all toward the lower end of the ECAC: RPI, Union, Brown, Yale. One slip by either team may be enough to decide who wins the ECAC RS title and also being able to host the ECAC final two rounds.
We split the regular season with Colgate, winning 2-1 then losing 4-2 (ENG).
The women's tiebreakers are:
Head-to-Head Pts
Wins in Regulation/OT
Points obtained Against Top 4 Teams
Points obtained Against Top 8 Teams
Goal Differential - Head-to-Head Games
Goal Differential against Top 4 Teams
Goal Differential against Top 8 Teams
Coin Flip

Think those are outdated tiebreakers since they don’t take shootout wins into account.

Sadly I don’t live in Ithaca but it is always tempting to go up for the weekend. In part years attendance has picked up for the last few home games and home playoff games, so hopefully that continues next year. The record I think is something around 3000? Can’t remember if it was for a RS or playoff game, but it was maybe a decade or so ago.

Of note, Cornell clinched a first-round bye. Still a lot of work to do for the No. 1 seed. Cornell has also hopped up to No. 4 in the Pairwise, but a long way to go there too.

Izzy Daniel is a late addition to the U.S. roster for the upcoming set of Rivalry Series games with Canada. I think Jenner, O’Neill and Zandee-Hart are on the Canadian roster. No current college players on either roster, as they didn’t want to disrupt the home stretch of the NCAA season.

Both seem about right. Unless something drastic happens to Wisconsin, Minnesota, or tOSU, it's hard to make the case that we deserve to be above any of them. OTOH, unless something perhaps not-so drastic happens to us, we could fall in the rankings.

But if you look at our record, we've had only one loss since 11/2/24. Our other 3 losses were from 10/18/24 to 11/1/24. It's reasonable to think that without Ivy restrictions on when the season begins, we'd have been better prepared for these early games against opponents who had 6 (Mercyhurst), 12 (tOSU), and 10 (Onion) more games under their belts that we did. In short, as the season has progressed, Cornell has improved. We're probably better than #4 in the polls, but that's fine. The final standings will be decided on the ice. cheer
