First period of his NHL playoff career, Barron gets cut pretty badly above the eye by the Las Vegas goalie's skate in a scramble in front of the net. Blood dripping into the crease.
Back on the ice in the second period.

Too bad it wasn't the day before Halloween, Barron had no game the next night, and got to open the door for kids looking for a handout but no shock.nshapiro

We drove our son and his best friend (went on to be the Union manager in the championship year) 30 minutes up to Livingston to knock on Brodeur's door, it was an off night for the Devils, and whatever candy it was Scott got from No. 30, he kept it in a cheap brandy / display glass (maybe from my fraternity days, the kind that held 30 books of matches so you could show off how many class hotels you'd been to) by his bed until around Christmas.

Interesting they took Stienburg too.
Their prospect pool is incredibly thin up front. Not too surprising they signed one of their own draft picks.

The rules are different for college players. The team holds the rights until August 15 after the player leaves an NCAA program.

Riley Nash signed a two-year contract with the Rangers. Could be a 4th liner, or may end up in Hartford.

As a Cornell and Ranger fan, I like this. The Rangers are really raiding the retirement home today though! LGR!

Cole Bardreau and Jeff Kubiak both signed new contracts with the Bridgeport Islanders, where each has been for awhile. Bardreau appeared in one game for the New York Islanders this past season.

Speaking of former Cornell defensemanā¦ Matt Cairns was promoted to the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL and played in two games over the weekend. He joins Riley Nash to make it a Big Red two-for. If heās up through the week they play Friday in Syracuse.

It's from a week ago, but Jacob Macdonald scored his first of the season for San Jose in one of their miserable 10 goal losses:

I remember Cairns as a high draft pick with blink-and-you-miss him ice time and here he is, hanging tough with AHL time in three straight seasons after a trip to the Frozen Four with UMD. Wild.VIEWfromK

Malinski with 12:02 of ice time and +1 for the Avs last night. If there were 3rd assists, he would have gotten one as he did figure in the Avs 4th goal last night, It is about 3:30 into this video (he's the right-handed d-man that makes the pass up the ice).
