Bardreau playing in the Islanders - Flyers preseason game tonight.

Even though he's an Islander now, he got some nice praise from the Flyers announcers regarding his toughness and how he came back from his injury at Cornell.

Although not in the pros, I assume that Galajda is an alumnus, so I guess this is the best thread to ask the question, when not playing against Cornell, are people here rooting for Notre Dame?

Someone posted something about how the Ivy League took too long to say that players like Galadja were eligible this year, so I don't really blame him.

Notre Dame is sorta tough to root for, though.

I'm not blaming him, I realize it was entirely Cornell's fault.

I'm saying it's too painful.

Watching the USA-Canada women's match tonight (from home, not in person). Johnston playing with the first line and the #1 PP along with Jenner. Saulnier, O'Neill, and Zandee-Hart also playing. Micah was getting some love for her early shifts from the TSN announcers.

Johnston with an assist on the first Canada goal.

Does anyone know what's happened to Anthony Angello? As far as I can tell, he came close to making the Pens this year but wound up in the AHL. But he hasn't played in any games, and I can't find any reports of injuries or anything.

And I'm a pens fan who tries to stay on top of this sort of thing.

An unfortunate turn of events for MacDonald, as he ended up getting stretchered off the ice after a brutal hit from Florida's Ryan Lomberg:

Micah Zandee-Hart getting some good ice time (and some praise from the TSN announcers) in tonight's Canada-USA game in St. Louis. She's even skating on the power play.

Johnston, Saulnier, and Jenner are also playing, of course, but Kristin O'Neill is not playing as far as I can tell.

FWIW, Barron got scarce minutes too when heā€™d been called up previously. But now, thanks partly to Covid, heā€™s getting a regular fourth-line shift. I think Iā€™ve even seen him on the PP or PK. Certainly the Ranger announcers are giving him lots of props. Heā€™s proving that he can handle the Show.

If Iā€™m not mistaken, the entire fourth line came off the taxi squad. Having played together in Hartford has been a big advantage.

Morgan Barron did not play today, and I don't see him listed on the Rangers roster.

From lohud.com, which I thought was an Israeli site, realized it's Lower Hudson.

Why the NY Rangers should consider playing Morgan Barron for now ā€” and the future
Basically: Barron is 66% on faceoffs and 56 minutes on-ice without a goal-against, he's building "confidence," and playing him now makes him more valuable in the 2022-2023 season, although it's the Devils and Islanders who should declare this season a loss.

Sunday was Matt Moulson Bobblehead Night with the Hershey Bears. Moulson played 24 games fall 2021 and has been out since the end of December with back surgery, which the team said was successful. He's 38 years old. If he can play more, good, but at some point as 40 approaches, you should think about how you'll feel at 50 and 60.

Jeff Malott will make his NHL debut with the Jets against the Blackhawks tonight!

Malott had 8 shifts in his NHL debut, and was on the ice for 4:06. He also had 2 penalty minutes.

Morgan Barron traded.

Forward Andrew Copp said on Thursday that, one year ago at this time, he started looking at houses and hoped that the Jets would sign him long-term. How quickly everything can change.

Winnipeg traded Copp and a 2023 sixth-round pick to the New York Rangers for prospect Morgan Barron, two conditional second-round picks and a fifth-round pick on Monday ahead of the NHL's trade deadline. Copp has 13 goals and 35 points in 56 games this season for the Jets.

The conditions of the picks: The first 2022 second-round pick will become the Rangersā€™ 2022 first-round pick if the Rangers advance to the Eastern Conference final and Copp plays in at least 50 percent of their playoff games. For the other second-round pick, it will either be St. Louis' 2022 second-round pick or the Rangers' second-round pick in 2023.

After the trade, Winnipeg assigned Barron to the AHLā€™s Manitoba Moose.

The Barron trade really depresses me. I've been a Rangers season ticket holder since the first Roosevelt administration, or so it seems, and have been waiting for a Cornell player to wear the Blue after having to watch Vesey, Blackwell, and Fox, though for obvious reasons I've grown to love Fox. Had high hopes for Morgan on Broadway, but the Rangers have a logjam of bottom six forwards and want to make a big move this season. Hopefully, for me, not a disastrous Dolan motivated move. Good luck to MB in Winnipeg, maybe playing for Dave Lowry, who should have soft spot for a Cornellian.

As a Rangers fan I'm sorry to see him go, but Gallant didn't seem to like him and as long as he's the coach I think Morgan would've been stuck in the AHL. With Winnipeg he'll get a fresh start and should have an easier path to the NHL.

Definitely will be better for Barron. More ice, a Cornell friendly coach. To my eye, he was better than a few of the people Gallant has been playing in New York, but with such a young team, I suspect the coach wanted a bit more age in the lineup. Morgan also looked a little slow at the NHL level to me. He's definitely mastered the AHL, so it's NHL or bust now. Let go Jets!

So are we all pretty sure he's going to be in the Jets' lineup, not just a yo-yo? (I mean assuming he performs ok.)

With Malott also in Lose-a-peg (schmoozing, under the covers) it's too bad Riley Nash isn't there anymore. The Red Line!*

* I wonder if any NC$$ program has ever achieved this in the NHL.

Riley Nash got reacquired by the Lightning off waivers and assigned to the AHL.

I hope the Lightning has a series of injuries to their forwards.

Morgan Barron's younger brother, Justin Barron, was also traded today, going from the Avalanche to the Canadiens. Justin appeared in two games for the Avs this season.

That AHL team being the Syracuse Crunch. Back home-ish for now.

Definitely good news for Morgan Barron. Stinks not being able to see him on the Rangers but the kid wouldn't play for a couple of years here. Average ice time of < 9 mins a game is tough unless you're just a plugger. He needs to play NHL games and real minutes to get into the game. Good luck too him.

I hope he can find a Taveras and capture that Moulson Magic of right place, right time.

Does Winnipeg suck enough to win the lottery?

Edit: 29-34. Not nearly awful enough. That's Isles territory, not Canadiens (17-46).

For Mitch Gillam, the biggest acclimation may be getting used to a uniform with graphics and more than two colors. (That may be his previous stop, the Indy Fuel.)

Leahy had a good season. Clearly the best defenseman (only positive +/- for all skaters) on a really bad team. I'm not surprisedā€”always liked his game. Regush looks to have gotten injured midway through the season. Miami was also awful this year.

Donaldson I can't understand. Clearly not being properly utilized.

Maybe he's just a victim of being incorporated into their system later. You don't shake up a defending national champion for one guy unless his name is Kariya.

Damn!! Bad timing for us. We attended the Winnipeg-Buffalo game last evening in the hope that Jeff or Morgan play. No luck. Frankly, that NHL game was a big step down from Cornell Hockey. The excitement & tempo were just not there.

Hopefully, Angello is in the lineup for the Penguins tonight. He got called up on an emergency basis.

Morgan was interviewed on TSN after the first period, however, which was nice. No earth-shattering revelations; just the usual "glad to be here, everyone has been really welcoming" chatter.

Hard to believe itā€™s been over 50 years!
