This is reminiscent of something Schafer did in his first season 9 years ago: had each player research someone who had worn their number.[/q]

He did it his first season with the whole team, but he has also done it with incoming freshmen every season - as far as I know, still does.  Goes along with the trophy-polishing; instills respect for where the program's been.

Other numbers I remember, even if they didn't play or don't have players:

1 - Dryden (don't know how anyone could have missed that :-P )
25 - Nieuwendyk
26 - Levasseur
29 - Mark McRae
30 - Hayward

Interesting choice, since he only played 2 seasons after transferring.[/q]

Especially since Derraugh wore it for his first two seasons.

15 - Steve Guiliani

Well, we did get "LeNeveu" playing for sixty minutes of this game. :-P

Hard to complain about picking a guy who scored 113 goals in his career, at a goal a game rate, who is the leading goal scorer at Cornell.  Brock, as when he played, doesn't get a lot of attention from the team historians.  I suspect for Charlie it was a tough choice (there was a time when players wanted the number of their favorite hockey hero - I bet Paul Varteressian had a tough choice since so many guys would have wanted to wear #9 - Gordie Howe's and Bobie Hull's number).

It was nice to see #7 with "Tredway" on the back keep up that goal a game scoring last night.  It must be a great feeling wearing that sweater and knowing that you are allowed to carry on the history of so many great players.

And he came out of the crease a lot more than I remembered. :-P
