Vesce's season was over even if Cornell had made it to the Frozen Four.  He reaggrevated his groin injury, spreading it to his abdomen.  He is due for surgery.  ZERON chance he could have played.

Come on, were you guys watching the same team I was watching?

Hornby flat out sucked this year. I was a huge Hornby fan last year, but this year he tried to clean up his game a little, and in doing so he left behind his physical play. He was useless.

As for Wallace, I never understood why he was chosen in the first place, but was god awful this year too.

Moreover, I'm not saying Vesce isn't hurt, but he should have been out there yesterday and today. He was well enough to go out for warmups yesterday, and he is our captain. These were his last games ever, and he blew it. I cannot believe that his injury was too serious seeing how he was able to skate yesterday before the game.

I hope next year's captains will not let our team down like Wallace and Vesce did this year. There were a lot of younger guys looking for leadership from winners, and clearly Wallace and Vesce did not provide this leadership. No wonder they couldn't beat Clarkson.[/Q]

I'm a selfish idiot who doesn't care that a student athlete may be risking a serious debilitating injury because my enjoyment is MUCH MUCH MUCH more important.

I'm a moron because I haven't been able to pick up on the fact that the Abbott Hornby Abbott line has been one of the most exhilirating and energizing lines we had this season.  I also didn't notice that Hornby played a much more disciplined game to fill the void left by last year's senior class.

In short, I am a selfish idiot moron.  Oh, and by the way, I'm Facetimer.

Nice translation, RedAR, though I think it would have been better to translate his comments as, "Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah..." :-D
Is next year here yet?

Bravo RedAR, resorting to petty insults.

I felt the whole series was very entertaining, and while I am upset that they lost, I, unlike some of you guys are not going to lose sleep over it.   I had fun being one of the few hecklers for warmups, and the games were fun.  Had Cornell won I would be on my way to Albany, but they didn't -- being from Boston I know what loosing is like.  But, unlike some of you, there is more in my life than Cornell Hockey.  I wish I could say the same about the rest of you, to the likes of Greg Berge, Cowbell Guy, and RedAR.

It's too bad Vesce couldn't play, but if his injury was so serious, why did he come out for warmups? My enjoyment is not more important than Vesce's health or anyone else's health (with the exception of maybe Nickerson).  I enjoyed the games even without Vesce.  But if he was well enough to come out for warmups, perhaps he owes it to the team, as captain, to at least suit up and sit on the bench, and maybe even take a faceoff or two.  I doubt having Salmela take a faceoff was better than an injured Vesce taking one.  Judging from past posts, I know I am not alone on this one.

As for Hornby, his hit yesterday in front of the goal from out of the box was the only big time hit I have seen him deliver all season.  He was clearly a detriment to the Abbotts line.  Put, say, Knoepfli with the Abbots, and they would have been a power.  Hornby did not live up to his reputation this year, and to say otherwise would mean you did not watch the team at all this year.

And yes, I am facetimer.  Unlinke all these other imposters out there.

Dingus

So, you think it's better to take up one of the active game-roster spots with a guy who MIGHT be able to take a face-off or two, but do nothing else, rather than use a backup defenseman (or forward)???

Absolutely brilliant!!!

Dumbass...

[/Q]And to say that Knoepfli and the Abbotts definitely would have been a power, without ever having seen them play together, would mean that you don't understand the concept of chemistry on a line.  Schafer spent half of last year trying other combinations before he settled on Hornby and the Abbotts.  We saw other combinations at the games that didn't work; he must've seen even more other combinations in practice that didn't even work well enough to try in a game.  It's awfully presumptuous of you to say that these line combinations that you've never seen definitely would've been better.

For someone who constantly professes to have better things to do than to obsess about Cornell Hockey, you REALLY make such an extra effort to post where you are not wanted.  C'mon, how many nicks and different computers have you used to get onto this forum?  IIRC, you were begging Age to let you back onto this forum, making empty threats of taking down the forum if he didn't let you back on.  Pathetic. ::rolleyes::

Thank you, I agree it is brilliant.  Seeing your captain on the bench or the ice even, may have given the team the support needed to win.

It's not like Pegoraro helped out any on Saturday night, he was awful on the power play.  I guess there is a reason why he was a healthy scratch for game 3.  And Salmela is a defenseman, and no better an alternative.

Only you would think that putting a kid out there sufferring from post-concussion syndromes is a good idea.

Frankly, there are far more important things in life than winning an ECAC title, and frankly, the dropoff in our teams' performance between Friday night and Sat/Sun was far greater than just Ryan Vesce.

I, for one, wish Ryan well and hope that whatever problems he's experiencing right now will soon go away... I'm sure NOBODY felt worse about Ryan Vesce not being on the ice this weekend than Ryan himself...

Didn't we win some games without Vesce this season?  I could have sworn there was at least one...

I believe our record in games without Vesce this year is 2-3-0, with the two wins being the away games at Dartmouth and Vermont and the other loss being the away game at Colgate.
Is next year here yet?

Okay... so we *were* able to win without him....

I didn't know you were on the team.  Which player are you?
