Just to set the record straight RPI beat Brown 4-0, not 3-0.

Great game tonight, and obviously it was great to finally have a home four-point weekend.  So, some thoughts:

- Vesce scored one goal in each game this weekend, and he was still playing a fair amount throughout both games.  Yeah, I think he's back for real now.
- I didn't hear the radio cast, so I don't know who the stars of the game were, but if it were up to me, the first would go to Jeremy Downs.  His defense was key to keeping Yale's SOG total so low.
- Can somebody give me some detail on the second Cornell goal?  It really came out of nowhere to me so I have no idea how it happened.
- McKee was solid as usual, though it irks me that he's only faced a total of 38 shots in the last three games.  I just don't want McKee going soft at the wrong moment; RPI's offense will likely not be that easy to get past.
- I was fearful that the dramatically fast play in the first period would wear down the Cornell players, and would cause them to lose unless they could sit on a big lead.  To an extent, I was right that it did slow them down, but luckly Cornell's forecheck slowed Yale down as well, so it all evened out.
- Without Annoying Phone Number Guy in attendance, I was actually able to get in some really good ribs on Gartner.  My two moments of gold: (1) (after the crowd called him short repeatedly) "Put on a few inches!  And get taller too!!!" (2) (near the end of the 2nd, after the crowd had done a great job mocking Gartner for a while) "We can keep this up all night!  But I heard you can't keep ANYTHING up all night!"  Yeah, it was all in the name of Valentine's Day. ;)
- Anyone know why Chris Abbott didn't play tonight?

Is next year here yet?

hah whose mr.wontbendover

That would be Yale goalie Josh Gartner, who wouldn't bend over like the crowd was telling him to do at one point, so we kept chanting "Bend over! Bend over!"  It went on for a minute or two before he finally did so.  I love it when the other goalies actually listen to what we're saying. :-D

LoL i know, dontcha just love it when we "get in their heads":-)

One thing id like to point out: does anyone else realize that cornells strategy of play seems to be: going hard in the first period, go easy in the second period, and going hard again in the third period?

Mike Hedrick 01

As for your question about the second goal:  The Yale defenseman inanely coughed the puck right up the center of the ice throught the slot, but somehow it got past Knoepfli and another forward who I couldn't make out.   It came all the way to Wallace at the point, and he shot it; Gartner made a good save and the puck went behind to Carefoot.   Carefoot immediately banked it off the back of Gartner's pad from behind the goal line.  I'm not sure if it was intentional (no replay) but I'd say it probably was.

I hope that helps!
