i think the that guy sucks chant was directed at the colgate fan with the backwards bud hat who had tobacco in his mouth the first peiod and started yelling things that made no sense.

as for the trap, colgate was forechecking with one player and then moving the rest of their players towards the puck carrying player in the neutral zone/blue line clogging the passing and skating lanes as well as the player with the puck. is this not the trap or a variant? curious is all :)

i also think that if this team can hang on and stay in games they will be a team to watch out for during the end of the season and playoffs once they get healthy. i hope the captain heals up well as well as everyone else

Kudos to the band for blowing Colgate's band out of the water.  I don't know if anybody in the band could see, but during Pinball Wizard, the entire Colgate student section just sat there with their mouths open listening.  Most of them even clapped at the end too.  So to get their fans (who were telling us to kill ourselves) to do that is pretty impressive, you guys rocked!

Yes, that sounds like a trap.  Like I said, I didn't see Saturday's game, but I do know that Colgate was sending two forecheckers deep into the offensive zone on Friday, and what they were doing didn't look any more like a trap than Cornell's forechecking system.  I'm assuming you're describing Saturday's game, in which case I wonder why they changed systems.  Maybe all the special teams play made them change things up a bit, or maybe they play a more aggressive forecheck on the road where they feel like they need to score more goals.  Or maybe Cornell adjusted from Friday and Colgate's response was to drop that second forechecker back to the blueline and trap instead of trying to force turnovers deep in the Cornell end.  Anyway, I'm sure I'll never know.  :-)

Just saw this now, and it made me laugh:

• Great to see a full house at Starr Rink on Saturday for Cornell's visit, but as is the case with most big games, some of the more casual fans attended strictly for the chance to throw things on the ice (packs of Big Red gum during the starting lineups). Some fans continued to throw things throughout the game, which certainly irked Colgate public address announcer Joe Caprio. His numerous, spirited pleas for better fan behavior included this second-period salvo:

"PLEASE refrain from throwing objects on the ice. It's English! You SHOULD Underrrrr Staaaaand!"
