Cut to me confirming the law school break period is October 12 to 16 - likely have to make the trip to Poland again (dentist stuff) in that timeframe... if I leave Ithaca on the 9th and NJ on the 10th... guh, it's gonna be a HARD sell for my mother to leave me in Ithaca by the 16th...

I don't remember having ever been to a scrimmage - I think it's usually scheduled over my fall break and I get dragged off back to Jersey for those. It's not on the Google calendar though. They are public admission like the other games, right?

I haven't been to a Red White game in decades, and I can't remember if they are free or if they charge a few bucks and donate the money to charity. In recent years, it's been a joint scrimmage for the men's and women's teams, though I'm not sure if that will still be the case since the women's season has shifted a little earlier.

When an undergrad my chemistry professor was so tight that after losing several lower molars he decided to have a removable bridge (or plate) made rather than spring for a cemented prosthetic.

His dentist built a standard dental plate and fitted it into his mouth and it worked acceptably.

In three months, prof was back at his dentist. The dentist looked in his mouth, and the plate he had just put in was so deteriorated it was beyond repair.

The dentist was shocked that it had only lasted three months, so he constructed a new plate and had stainless steel used as the structural framework.

But again in about three months prof returned to him as the stainless steel plate was corroded and failing.

This time he had the plate made with titanium, but once more it only lasted a matter of months before deteriorating beyond repair.

Totally baffled, he sent prof to a professor of metallurgical professor  who was also a patient to see if he could solve this puzzle.

The professor examined his plate (false tooth bridge) and quizzed the man about his dental hygiene and diet. "There must be something very acidic that you eat a lot of." I know a professor of Food Science and if anyone can figure it out it's her.

So prof went hat (and plate) in hand to visit Dr. Chompowski. He reluctantly handed the prosthetic to her and was peppered by a barrage of diet questions worthy of a moot court cross examination. Her persistence paid off when prof told her this:

"To tell the truth, my wife makes the absolute best hollandaise sauce in the world. I put it on everything."

"Aha!" Chompowski exclaimed, "Have your dentist make you a new plate out of chrome and you shouldn't have any more problems!"

"Chrome?" prof asked, "Why chrome?"

"Because," she replied, "There's no plate like chrome for the hollandaise!"

Great News! 

Over the Chirstmas [Winter] Break Coach Jones will be Assistant Coach for the U.S. Collegiate Selects in the Spangler Cup in Davos, Switzerland.  (Mike Sousa of UNH is Head Coach and Scott Sandelin of Minnesota Duluth is the other Assistant.)

That's a little tight for the early January Omaha game . . . but maybe promises adding UNH and UMD to the schedule.  I would love to see us play UMD in the Frozen Apple.

I recall Walsh's travelogue getting back from Davos for the Omaha series last year...

Assuming they make the finals (12/31), it's unlikely they travel home the same day unless they do it by a private jet.

Recall last year, our Omaha series was the 2nd and 3rd. This gave them the leeway to take off on the 1st for the intl flight and then the 2nd do the regional flights. Walsh got back to Ithaca at like, 3:30 pm the day of the Omaha series, as per McNally. I've heard it was even thornier than that 😅

Assuming similar, that they would fly most likely from Zurich on the 1st of January, I don't see a way Casey would get to Omaha for the Jan 1st game. Jan 2nd, sure, but Jan 1st we'll likely see an assistant take the reins.

I believe two years ago they played Princeton in a scrimmage instead of Red/White.  They typically play two scrimmage/exhibition games against an opponent before the season instead of one.  I started looking back at the recent schedules and that's been the case for at least back to the pandemic.  They didn't list the Princeton scrimmage on the schedule from Syer's first season but I know it was part of the ticket package.  Right?  I just wondered why this year was different and if it was because of the extra regular season game?
