Soundly outworked by Princeton. No support for the puckcarrier, resulting in no sustained possession. This team is nothing special when we aren't winning faceoffs.

I don't know that they were outworked.  Princeton is just faster and has better team speed. Historically Cornell has generally played a 1990s Jersey Devils type of big bodied defensive hockey.  They've started to move away from that for sure but in recruiting need to place a much higher premium on speed and skill.that is the game now at every level.

Grrr.  This has turned into a very pedestrian finish to the season.  I'm certainly very happy that the body of work was enough to secure an NCAA at large berth.  I'm not as happy to be heading there off of a semifinal loss.

The games against Princeton this season have all been very similar.  Princeton also held Cornell to two goals in each game.  This game was a bit maddening.  Cornell spent stretches of the game being non-existent.  The first fifteen minutes of period two were all Princeton.  That is usually when Cornell plays their best.

So many early chances to get some breathing room.  Two open nets and a breakaway with nothing to show for it.

The second and third Princeton goals were missed assignments.  I get having one defender going for the puck and not the man but you can't have two guys do it.  Can't believe that guy snuck out of that group with the puck.  It was quite a finish.  I'm disappointed that nobody picked up the guy on the back door on the go ahead goal.  He was there long enough to be noticeable.

There were very few shots off the pass.  Gathering the puck to take a shot allowed Princeton to get in position for the block.  Not sure why that aspect of the offense comes and goes as much as it does?

I understand that there is a difference when you are playing to extend your season vs knowing you have an NCAA spot locked up.  Not bringing home a third ECAC Championship means there is less to hang your hat on if things don't go well next weekend.  Hopefully there's another level these guys can get to.

I never want to hear him say again that a building is "packed" when it's 70% empty.

I never want to hear him say again that Dartmouth's hockey history is filled with "giants" of coaching.

If that was the twerp with the mic running around all game - and really, the twerp too - I want them to take the word "threepeat" out of their goddamn vocabulary.

He wasn't the twerp that asked you about Cornell threepeating.

(Funny story for those not there. Stereax misunderstood him when he asked her if Cornell was going to threepeat, and thought he was asking her if she wanted to be on camera so she screamed "no" at him. I initially thought her reaction was just to the potential jinx. I'm sure he was confused, which is fine.)

Pierre McGuire (photo attached) was, I'm guessing, doing the TV commentary.

Small correction - I was initially like "nope", and then it looks like he asks again and I go "absolutely not!" Maybe I'm just naturally loud though?

I'm sure that confused him, lol. In either case, get the threepeat out of your mouth. My reaction would've been the same either way 😂

The little twerp is going around now pre-DP game filming kids for baseball caps. As I just told Andy, if that man was on fire, I wouldn't piss to put him out.

Will update with a full LP travelogue when I get back to my hotel tonight :)

This just made me realize that we've been messing with the in-rink entertainment at Lake Placid starting 30 years ago (broken up by the Albany stint and weird Atlantic City fever dream).

Whether we were instructing the blindfolded contestant to walk AWAY from the "find the milk" carton, or taunting the corporate frisbee toss ("Subway owns Clarkson!") or rooting for a fight during the costume relay race. Or just teasing the over-enthusiastic douchy in-game "host" and his frosted tips.

They try to have a nice experience and we playfully sabotage it.

I love it. I'll always have a soft spot for Aubuchon Hardware.

We have also agreed that if we see any announcer like this twerp at Lynah, he will be... swiftly reminded that the Faithful don't like gimmicks.

He's a typical minor league hockey gimmick.  The LV Phantoms have a guy just like him.
