Today in the New York Post there was an article about Q's Ethan Wyttenbach, currently leading the nation in scoring. Standard local boy makes good profile except one thing. The article said that his uncle and father played for Cornell in the mid 90s. I could find no trace of them although Dad has it on his LinkedIn.  Anyone from that era have any memory of a Wyttenbach?  Perhaps the Jimmy Rayhill of the 90s.
Also any idea if we tried to recruit the lad?  Beniers was one that really pissed me off. Two parents from Cornell.

I think we talked about this a few days ago and it was determined they played for the non-varsity/club/JV? team?

The dad's LinkedIn specifically mentions "varsity ice hockey" under his Cornell accomplishments. Maybe he was on the practice squad, but not officially on the roster?

Hey now.  I have played varsity intramurals.  Lifetime stats: 1 GP 0-4-4 2 PIM.

Don't get excited, we won 17-8.  The penalty was for high sticking and it was a fair cop.

Not bad for a 155 lb American who couldn't skate backwards.

I spent way too many Saturday and Sunday mornings at those games, as official scorer, PA announcer, or both. My records of those times are no longer in my possession, having contributed 40 boxes of material to the University Archives when I downsized about 5 1/2 years ago, but they are available for reference in the reading room in the basement of Olin Library.

Some JV facts: Schafer coached the JV team as part of his job as assistant coach right after he graduated. Tony Eisenhut, the analyst on the ESPN+ broadcasts, was a JV player.

Largely it's that freshmen weren't eligible to play varsity for a long time, but obviously it wasn't only that.
