Women's QF games are going to be the 27th, 28th, 29th if needed, at 3 PM.

These are before the SLU and CLK men's games, so better pray neither of the first two go to OT.

Excellent.  I'll be up in Ithaca for that weekend.

If you need the accompaniment of a twenty-something law student at at least the women's games, shoot me a DM, will be glad for the company!

Always a good excuse to post the GWG from the 3OT NCAA win over BU in 2012 (though that game apparently was a 2 p.m. start) that pushed back that start of a men's ECAC playoff game.

I wish there was still a fuller highlights video out there -- just a ridiculous game and amount of talent on the ice.
Agreed!  I'd love to be able to relive that one.  We were in town for my father's birthday celebration and took the opportunity to attend the afternoon game. When the third period ended with the score tied 7-7 after several lead changes I texted the family saying that it should be over fairly quickly and we wouldn't be late for the dinner.  I said the same thing after the first overtime and the second.  We did make it to dinner on time, but just barely.  I'm standing in my red jacket in the front row behind the celebration in the CornellBigRed photo.  https://cornellbigred.com/news/2012/3/10/WICE_0310121319.aspx

Quote from: Weder on January 12, 2026, 02:07:28 PMScanning through the first few games of the Women's U18 Worlds:
Fall '26 commit Jillian McLaughlin (F) has a goal and an assist for the U.S. through 2 games
Fall '27 commit Tereza Gildainova (F) has 2G, 1A in 2 games for the Czechs
Fall '27 commit Aurora Matt (D) was +3 in Canada's first game

Catching up on this post-tournament (The U.S. beat Canada for the gold)
McLaughlin finished with 3G, 1A
Gildainova had 4G, 2A and the Czechs won bronze
Matt had 5A and was +14

I don't know anything about girls junior/prep hockey or the quality of the HS league that Gildainova plays in, but apparently she has 53 goals (!) and 61 assists (!!) through 62 games (!!!) for Lovell Academy. There are several other D1 commits on the roster, so must be at least a decent team/league?

With 5-seed Clarkson being shockingly upset by 12-Union today, 2-1, it looks like it will be Colgate coming into town for the best of three quarters next weekend.

Why do certain opponents (M & W) keep popping up in the playoffs?

There are only so many of them...

All else equal, the most interesting things tend to happen. I don't make the rules

Cornell currently 11th in NPI but will need to be at least 10th for an at-large NCAA bid. I haven't looked at it too closely, but if the conference tournaments are pretty chalky, not sure if Cornell can get in without an autobid.

i assume you mean "to guarantee" an at-large bid, right? there will not be six conference champions who will be outside of the top 16.

It's an 11-team field for the women. (Also, I guess if there's a big upset champion in any of the non-NEWHA leagues that doesn't bode well for Cornell either.)
