Quote from: chimpfood on November 22, 2025, 01:33:46 PMGod bless the pep band. The only thing I'll ever complain about with them is how football is prioritized over hockey.

They really are the last thing in the way of us becoming a boring building with all piped in music and a goal horn.

Last night the piped in music was mostly relegated to warmups.  90 DB and painful then.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

My friend literally was asking me for earplugs before the game because that stuff is INSANELY loud...

Shortly after warmups started we saw one of the ushers go down to the announcer's area (still called the scoring box?) and presumably ask that the volume be turned down. He was directed to the office near the Zamboni door, and made his way over there. The volume did get lowered, but not very much. If you measured it at 90db, I'm wondering if that was before or after the minor adjustment.

My friend's Iphone measured 90 and my Android showed a 90 dB peak but this was during warmups.  I don't see the utility unless you want to chase the townie fans.

I actually said to my daughter, after they had lowered the volume slightly, that I should have tried to measure it. Maybe tonight!

I used my ear buds as earplugs.  Also came up with a second instance to worry about the ESPN+ up and down volume level when I tried to listen to Jason in the intermissions.

Late arriving crowds have been an issue for years. But if those who arrive for warmups are rewarded by being deafened, it's only going to get worse.

Band should be there by 6:20 and alternate playing and heckling during warmups. Even immediately after last football home game.  *shakes fist at cloud*

Fwiw today the pumped in music was a lot less loud, as a whole.

Can't remember the last time RPI brought a band to Lynah. They sound pretty good.

I heard someone  who went to find out report back: "it's senior night for the marching band and they should be here by 7:30."  ::)
