Quote from: Jeff Hopkins '82 on November 15, 2025, 09:31:41 AM- The passing on the power play was quick and crisp.  Nice to see.

At this point I think unit two is better than unit one.  Unit two is typically only getting the final thirty seconds but they are looking to make plays.  Unit one is still doing too much perimeter work for my liking.  Still waiting for lanes to open that rarely do.

Perhaps but it's WAY better than it was last year.

People (rightly) complaining about piped-in music: I implore you, reach out to the athletic department rather than venting about it on ELynah. My bet is that they will listen.

Perhaps reach out to those in the athletics administration, facility management, operations, Lynah Rink categories, as you see fit:

Last season's power play was an elaborate long-form trolling attempt. I don't really understand the joke, but it had to be one.

I keep thinking about the DiGiulian goal.  When it happened I thought he had shot the puck from the point and followed it up.  It wasn't him but he was up by the point when the shot was taken and then he beat everyone in front of him to the loose puck. I think his four goals this year have come from within a combined ten feet from the net. His instincts are incredible to know where to be.  He's a natural goal scorer.  Cornell doesn't get a lot of those.

Quote from: chimpfood on November 15, 2025, 12:11:13 AM. That'll happen when you have a half band, no cowbell guy, and a shitty opponent.

There has been a cowbell person, but whatever they're striking sounds like a soup can, not an actual cowbell, so it's barely audible even if you're on that side of the rink.

He also had a sense of rhythm comparable to a farm animal with a few extra chromosomes.

I think our usual guy will be back next week.
Yeah... cowbell is unhearable from mid-C. Much less the GH side of the rink.

Yeah.

I am wondering if the look is due to the decision to make it thinner this year.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Do this, and then skip donating for a cycle.  Tell them why.

Hopefully the pep band is advocating for itself too.

I looked it up so you* don't have to: CHIP is a comprehensive-quality stat comparable to baseball's WAR.

* person like me

I still had to look up WAR, though.

(It's not all that relevant to the Mets, you see.)

We're about to piss away Pete's 23.3 career WAR.  Relevance.

There's a miserable, miserable part of me that says let Pete walk, let Edwin walk, and try to have an under the luxury tax threshold reset year.

Just as long as the Mets don't throw crazy $ at Josh Naylor. The Mariners fanbase is on pins and needles hoping they can sign him, despite our notoriously cheap ownership.
Mets-Mariners fan here too.  There are a surprising number of us, in steerage on the ship of the damned.

Good news for the Mariners - looks like they are about to sign Naylor to a 5 year deal, per the Seattle Times.
"The exact contract figures are not immediately known, but the deal will most certainly end up as the largest free-agent contract the Mariners have given to a position player in the last decade under Jerry Dipoto, the club's president of baseball operations."

Climbing off my thread-drift soap box now......
"What... is your favorite color?"  "Blue. No, yel--auuuuugh!"
