A lot of sloppy play right now.

Love the Cornell kits though.

mike1960

A lot of chances in the box for Cornell. Just not getting the good strike.

ugarte

5 to go. Cornell starting to put pressure on. Almost a really nice through ball from the defensive half to an "offsides" attacker but the goalie rushed out to intercept the pass which had just barely too much heat.

ugarte

fuuuuuuck really nice pass into space for a princeton chip over friedberg to seal it with three minutes to go.

mike1960

That second Princeton goal wasn't offsides?

not even close. if you watch the replay, look at the grass lines. defender on the opposite side of the field was at least a step ahead of him when the pass was struck.

Pretty bad mistake then.

I don't watch a lot of college soccer. The clock stoppage is disconcerting.

and now we wait for the bracket. congrats to princeton on the season. they had the run of play against us again.

Frustrating.  So many chances, but they just couldn't finish.

Hopefully this performance helps them with seeding in the tourney.

What struck me as more bizarre are the substitution rules.

I heard a horn and assumed people were going on and off. What's the rule?

If you go off before halftime, you can't come back in the first half, but you can in the second.  But if you go off in the second half you're done for the game.

So different from international football.

Pretty exciting in the last few minutes. A good strike by Cornell just missed. A risky play outside the box by the Princeton goalie that could have resulted in a Cornell score.

Clock is stopped on substitution by the leading team (and also whenever the ref thinks a team is milking the clock). I assume this is because there is no stoppage time, so you have to fix it as it happens. There are also fixed substitution times in addition to any stoppage in play. Plus what Jeff said about the halves.

Princeton's a damn good team, but we had our chances and kept pace with them.  We showed we belonged.

OTOH that PK left something to be desired.
