What would've happened if her son went to Duke?

The reasons for Ben's departure were not that simple.  Andy Noel did not blame it on his handling of the hazing/partying incident.  There was something else at issue that has never been publicly disclosed although there has been a tremendous amount of speculation over the years.  We may never know what actually prompted his termination since the parties have no reason to share the details with us.  And although I have always been really curious, I also acknowledge that I don't really have any right to know.

It will be interesting to see how much of a story line this is or isn't in the week ahead. I doubt the lax media will press hard.

Does anyone know where you can find the highlights of the Ohio State game?  The "highlights" link on cornellbigred.com does have footage from the game set to bad music, but I was looking for highlights from the broadcast.

Awesome win yesterday. The lack of coverage and support on campus for the lacrosse team is nuts given how successful the program is. The Sun barely covers lax, still having published nothing on yesterday's game. The crowds are sparse. There is no highlight package up. Even when highlights go up, it's usually just a subset of the Cornell goals, with no opposing goals or other big moments. And the replays start just a second or two before each goal, so there is never any view into how the plays develop. Even the official Cornell lacrosse social media pages often do not list the final score of the games or post highlights. Neither the official team Instagram page nor the team Twitter account has posted the final from yesterday's game (the Twitter account later retweeted an article about the game, which happens to list the final score). The team Facebook page hasn't been updated since October 2020. I don't know who manages these things, but I would hope there is enough interest in the lacrosse team to at least demand score updates, highlights of all the goals, and an article the next day in the school paper that covers the biggest game of the year.

Final exams are underway, including tests scheduled for this past weekend.  I suspect this had a lot to do with attendance and Cornell media coverage.  And the weather sucked.  Why go out in the rain, thunder and lightning when you have ESPN?

The Sun barely covers any Cornell athletics team other than men's hockey, especially when they are not "publishing."  The Sun only "publishes" when classes are in session, a holdover from the pre-Internet days.  It drives me nuts that a reporter and an editor can't manage to get it together to write, edit and post even bare-bones stories about athletic events other than men's hockey.  The Internet is supposed to boost media coverage, not subvert it.

As for Athletics, let's cut them some slack.  There are only a handful of media people on the staff and they have families.  The game was scheduled on May 8 to be played in Ithaca on Sunday, May 15.  It was delayed for several hours due to weather to further complicate media activiy and they did get a story up last night.  The game was televised by ESPN which might impact access [and rights?] to posting highlights and archiving the complete game.  Chayse's goal was posted on Twitter pretty quickly for our amazement and delight.

The entire game is now on the ESPN website. Use the second option.

Re-play is on TV now if your cable provider has ESPNU.

Thank you--my cable provider does offer ESPNU, but I don't pay for that channel, so I am stucking looking for highlights.  This is pretty good:

Inside Lacrosse article has 1 minute highlight package, plus individual highlights

How does Ierlan get credit for a goal?  It looks like it went it in off of the stick of Piatelli.  Shouldn't he get the goal, with an assist to Ierlan? Not that I would want that, because a goalie goal is really cool, and a much better look for Cornell than what Blaze Riordan did to us a few years ago.

If you look at the video of Ierlan's goal, Piatelli and the goalie both jump for the ball and it is redirected into the net.  Apparently it hit the goalie stick rather than John's; hence the goalie goal.

Re video, as I understand it the NCAA retains rights to all video of championship games, it's not available for schools to clip and post highlights.
