The news is from December, so I'll stick with this thread.  Here's the Canadiens' press relase on O'Byrne's demotion.
What's surprising to me is they've brought up and tried so many forwards, but not the 6'3" kid leading the team in scoring who's a great penalty killer.
I remember hearing some grumbles from sharks fans last year about his attitude and work ethic so I'm not sure what to think about it. I hope he gets a shot sometime, he was always fun to watch at lynah.

Speculation in The Hamilton Speculator Spectator was that it would be a short stint.  Let's hope for O'B that it is.

Quote from: Garry McKay, The Hamilton Spectator O'Byrne was pretty happy about getting to play with the Bulldogs tonight and tomorrow evening.

The 6-foot-6, 228-pounder is here on a conditioning stint. It can't be any longer than a couple of weeks and could be as little as a few days.

If he was sent down officially for conditioning I believe the stay is limited to 2 weeks. This is probably the case because I think he has a 1-way contract this year so if they actually sent him down he would have to go through the waiver wire and I imagine someone would pick him up.
