Presuming the Q holds on, does the ECAC root for Tech to lose two to help get SLU in the tourney? Can SLU beat DC and still get in? I haven't played out all the scenarios.

French Rage

I think there was a scenario where we get 3 in with SLU beating Clarkson in the consolation.
03/23/02: Maine 4, Harvard 3
03/28/03: BU 6, Harvard 4
03/26/04: Maine 5, Harvard 4
03/26/05: UNH 3, Harvard 2
03/25/06: Maine 6, Harvard 1

Q just got goal number 4, about 3:02 left in the game.

USCHO's Jayson Moy works through many scenarios in his Bracketology 2 article.  Here's one -

"Here's a situation where a three-way tie results in two teams being put out of the number-one seeded band.

"CCHA: Notre Dame defeats Michigan for the title and Lake Superior wins the third-place game.

"ECACHL: Quinnipiac defeats Clarkson for the title and St. Lawrence wins the third-place game.

"Hockey East: Boston University defeats Massachusetts.

"WCHA: North Dakota defeats Michigan Tech for the title and Minnesota takes third place.

"Atlantic Hockey: Connecticut defeats Sacred Heart.

"Clarkson winds up winning the three-way tiebreaker for fourth place with New Hampshire and Boston University."

Killer

Looks like SLU has pulled the goalie with 3:00 to go.  Gotta agree.  Stopping goals is no longer of much relevance

Killer

QU moves on with what looks like a pretty convincing win.

Must have gotten ugly at the end - SLU took a 2-minute roughing call at 18:49, followed by a 5-minute major for slashing at 19:14.
Wow. I thought SLU would win this one comfortably, but it appears to be Q's day (and maybe year).  Really astonishing how quickly Q has ascended in the league.  Will be interesting to see if it is an aberation or if they are here to stay.
It's not astonishing to me at all.  Having read about the way they built up their program I expected them to be good pretty soon.  They were never likelyto be another Union Dutchmen.

Good for the ECAC.  Bad for us this year...

I guess it proves no dominance in ECAC this year.
I'm rooting for Clarkson in night game. Get #1 seed in Roch..

I'm not astonished that they've become good "pretty soon."  I'm just surprised that they're one win from a league championship in year two.

I guess this really confirms the conference made a good choice in QU.  Shocking outcome regardless though.

There was one result found in the thread about You are the Committee where ALL 4 ECAC teams got in.  It involves Q 1st, D 2nd, SLU 3rd, and Clark 4th.
