Not a Cornell alum, but Brett Nowak, who played at Harvard, is retiring from the AHL at age 24 following surgery for testicular cancer. Hopefully he maintains a clean bill of health now. It's always a shame to see someone's athletic career end when it's not on their terms.

That's sad news.  I wish Shane the best of luck in his off-season rehab.  I sure hope he can come back at full strength next year and that he stays in the Ducks' organization.
