Not a good night for Springfield last night.  Lenny got yanked after allowing 5 goals on 31 shots, and in relief JMP stopped 6 of 8 as they lost to Lowell 7-3.

Better showing by LeNeveu tonight, stopping 30 of 31 shots as Springfield beat Providence 3-1.

Baby had an assist in a 5-3 Chicago loss to Cincy on Friday night.

Tough break for Underhill in Norfolk of the AHL: since Michael Leighton was sent back down from the Blackhawks, they had to send Underhill back down to Florence of the ECHL. And in his first start back with the Pride tonight, he had 43 saves but got the loss as Florence fell 4-3 in a shootout to Augusta.

Up 2-0 in the best of 5 playoff series and leading 3-1 about halfway through the third period of game 3, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (with Travis Bell) collapsed, allowing 3 goals, including a shorthanded one that tied that game, to lose 4-3. Game 4 is today (Sunday) at 5:00pm.

Doug Murray had 2 assists and finished +2 tonight, though Cleveland lost 5-4 to Syracuse. Other random game notes: Cleveland scored TWO shorthanded goals in the game, and Murray had a hooking penalty in the first, and Syracuse scored on the ensuing power play. Cleveland travels to Hamilton next weekend, where Yann Danis could get the start.

Update on the CHL playoffs, involving Travis Bell:

The Mudbugs were up 2-0 in the playoff series, but the Indianapolis Ice, behind a 5 point effort from their best player Jason Baird, won tonight 7-4 to tie the series at 2. Bell was -2 on the night. So, Bossier-Shreveport won their two home games, and Indy won their two. The deciding Game 5 will be tomorrow night at Bossier-Shreveport. The Wichita Thunder, who stunned #1 seed Colorado by a series score of 3-1, awaits the winner in the Northern Championship game (i.e. the overall semifinals).

CHL update:

Facing elimination in the deciding game 5 of the opening round of the playoffs, Bossier-Shreveport defeated Indianapolis 3-1 Tuesday night, sending them to the Northern Conference Finals to play the lower-seeded Wichita Thunder in a Best of 7 series. Travis Bell was +1 in Game 5. Game 1 is Friday night @ Bossier-Shreveport. The Mudbugs were 1-2 (with one of the losses coming in a shootout) against the Thunder during the regular season.

Something else I found out that I did not know: apparently the Mudbugs are affiliated with the Rochester Americans, where Sam Paolini is currently on the roster (though he hasn't played in the last few games).
