Shutouts

Not to put down ECAC lame duck Vermont, who are we kidding here, of course they suck, but back-to-back shutouts of Cornell anywhere has not occurred in nearly 40 years - since December of 1964.  The only time Cornell was shutout in back to back games at Lynah Rink was January 1st and 2nd, 1959 in Cornell's own holiday tournament.  Who plays on New Year's Day anymore?  A quick glance shows Cornell was previously shutout on January 21, 1995 at home and then early on in the 92-93 campaign.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

You know [bleep] could be a good word.  Besides the usage - You guys are so [bleep]ing awesome on the Forum, we could just start bleeping random words like sucks.  Oh wait, that's been done.

Anyone check when the last time was that we were held to one goal in a weekend?  ::help::

We came close with a two goal weekend at Estero on 12/28-29/2002 (2-3 Maine and 0-1 Ohio State), but our last one goal weekend was 2/9-10/2001 (1-4 at Princeton, 0-1 at Yale in that painful overtime game).

Our only one (or fewer) goal weekend at Lynah was 1/1-2/59, at the Cornell Holiday Invitational (0-11 Colby, 0-10 UNH).

ouch.  we gave up double-digits 9 times that year?  worse yet, getting shut-out by Hahvahd 18-0.  that's beyond embarassing.

Hahavhd scored 13 goals at Lynah, but no one got a hat trick?  Were there any hat tricks at the Lynah East game?  With 18 goals, there has to be at least one, no?

An amazing stat from that era.   Penn was in fact a club team -- hockey didn't become a varsity sport at Penn until the 1970s.  Probably the only reason they appear as a regular game on our schedule is because we beat them.

The point is that, Penn excluded, we were shut out in Ivy compettion 10 games in a row , beginning against Harvard in the '59 season and finally ending against Brown in 1960.
