Head Athletic Trainer Bernie DePalma Announces Retirement

"Bernie DePalma, the longtime Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine and the Doc Kavanagh Head Athletic Trainer at Cornell University, has announced his retirement effective this fall. A legendary figure in Big Red athletics, DePalma has served generations of student-athletes and shaped one of the nation's most respected sports medicine departments over 42 years."

Information about the new athletic training structure and leadership will be forthcoming, as will details regarding an in-person celebration of DePalma and his legacy in Cornell athletics.

Earlier in the release, there is this comment by AD Nicki Moore: "As we continue to prioritize student-athlete health and well-being, I look forward to working with the incredible staff he has recruited and developed here to build upon the robust foundation Bernie has laid over so many years, and through countless meaningful moments with student-athletes, coaches, and staff."
