Quote from: chimpfoodWe end the season undefeated in non conference play, very impressive, especially given the strength of our opponent. Now we just need to stop blowing it in the ECAC.

I feel a second half run coming on. Won't catch quinnipiac but I like us to finish the regular season in 2nd place. Then see what happens.

honestly I would be hugely disappointed with anything other than second. Brown and Yale are top 4 in the league right now which is a joke.

So, what shall we complain about tonight fellas? Bearlover you're up

upprdeck

we held a top 15 scoring team to almost no chances in the 2 games.

the only thing the PP is doing is running down the clock

we had more quality chances on the PK than the PP

I wasn't able to watch much this weekend. But Cornell dominated play from what I did watch. (Said this last night too.) I'm realistic about when Cornell plays well/badly, unlike you perhaps.

If you need something to complain about, the PP and odd man rushes have been awful. Cornell is confused about how to execute odd man rushes. Badly timed passes, shots going straight into the goalies' feet. I don't know if it's a talent thing or what. Sometimes the opposing goalie makes a good save. But I think BU would have scored on at least 5 of our 12 or so odd man rushes that we have this weekend. (We scored on 0.) Even Princeton or ASU or whoever seem have much better skill/poise in these situations and convert at a much higher rate.

Ok calm down. No need for the trash talk

Cornell plays with a lot of speed and skill these days. But we still don't seem to have the sense/poise to make the right play on split-second decisions. On odd-man rushes and A-B-C passing plays (especially on the PP), these decisions need to be bang-bang-bang and Cornell doesn't seem to have the wherewithal to do this successfully. Maybe it's the type of kid Cornell recruits, but again, there is so much skill and speed on this year's team that I don't think that's really the issue. Castagna/Seger/DeSantis have great hands and the team skates really well, we just can't seem to ever make the right split second play. I guess it's not a focus of the coaching staff.

This season has been the Robertson and Seger show so far. It is promising that Psenicka and DeSantis have finally started producing. This seems like a good team, but when we're scoring it's usually just the product of sheer number of chances/sustained possession rather than fast break/passing plays.

Yeah, Robertson and Seger (along with Shane) have been our best players so far in my eyes. Robertson was a revelation against ASU. Nothing against Stanley and Fergaras, who are more than holding their own as freshmen defensemen, but I'm mystified why Robertson wasn't also drafted last year. If he keeps improving I think he, similar to Malinski, will be a priority free agent by multiple NHL teams.

Robertson should be eligible again in this year's draft, so it seems like a decent shot he will be taken by someone.

I didn't realize that there is an NCAA Hockey Highlights page on YouTube.  Both of this weekend's Cornell ASU games were covered.
