So, I opened up the mailbox today and was happy to see the latest edition of Hockey Digest inside. I was extra happy when I saw one of the front page teasers .... "NCAA player of the year: Dave LeNeveu". Yup. Whole article/ interview with him. Was quite cute. Just thought I'd let eveyone know so anyone interested could pick up a copy ... if it is even available on newsstands?

Really?  I searched the NCAA website, and I could not locate such a press release.  There was no mention of such an award on the official Cornell website, either.

Please clarify, Melissa.  (I mean, I'd love it if this news were indeed true.)

Presumably that was Hockey Digest's NCAA POTY.

Hockey Digest's NCAA Player Of the Year, not the NCAA's (that would kinda be the Hobey)

I think the NCAA has nothing to do with the Hobey, or with giving out any individual award in any of the team sports as a matter of fact.   From the Hobey website:  "The Award is controlled by a non-profit group known as the Hobey Baker Foundation."

Thus, there can be multiple player of the year awards for college hockey. Greg could probably expand his TBRW awards -- all he'd need to do is get enough clout to publicize it (and get voters), just like the various organizations giving out college hoops POTYs.

You sayin' I don't have clout? ;-)

It's an idea though -- to hold a ceremony at the F4 each year to award the Pierre.  I can see Murphy sitting in the audience, fingers crossed, eyes closed (why change now?), "oh please, please, let me win again... nobody's ever won it three times... oh please..."

Only if we do it in a bar on the Thursday or Friday night of F4 weekend.  And we could have the TBRW? Shadow Town Hall meeting where people pose questions to a panel of eLF posters.

Greg: I'd stuff the ballot box just so that Murphy COULD win  ::laugh::
(yeah, why changed now...you got that right!)
