What gives?

I thought a week ago Friday's games were weird, but upon reading the RPI program, I found something weirder.

Most of you know that Coach Harkness got his first NCAA Championship with RPI in 1954. That team was legendary with doing so well with what they had. A great player on the team was Abbie Moore. In fact he was the NCAA Tournament MVP that year. But I just found out from the RPI program that he was only a second team forward on the All Tournament Team. I mean MVP but second team?

Two ways it could (be made to) make sense:

1) Is it possible that the All-tourny team covered the final four but the MVP only covered the title game?

2) If Moore split his time between Defense and Forward during the games, I guess the committee could have said he made the biggest impact overall in the tourny but had a few guys ahead of him at each position.

Since RPI was an underdog, I can imagine that Moore could have been instrumental in the wins and yet considered a lesser player than those on the favorite teams.  I think we need an oldtimer to help us out.

"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Honest to God Facetimer, you need to cut this shit out. The fact that you take so much time out of your excuse of a life just to sit around and try to find different adresses and different ways to get on here is really lame. You need to get a job, and girlfriend/boyfriend, a couple friends. Think about it when i say GET A LIFE.

For the record ... based on the recommendation of a friend and fellow faithful, facetimer has "retired gracefully" and is now "bask[ing] in [his] past glory" Occasionally, he will post under an assumed name (e.g. Todd Marr).  He is not affiliated with facetimer 2, nor does he condon calling Jim Hyla '67 a dooshbag [sic].  If you review past facetimer posts, which I am sure Age has saved up somewhere, you will note that he has always maintained that Jim Hyla '67 should not be riducled because he throws us snickers during intermissions.  The only other guy I like is the guy who gave me the "Don't Mess With Texas" bumper sticker at Harvard (yes, that is a clue to my identity -- too bad Detective Manoccia was sitting a few sections over, or he'd know who I am).

Whoever is posting as facetimer 2 is quite clever.  Unfortunately she spelled douchbag incorrectly.  My guess is because this person is stupid, it must be HOTELCALIFORNIA.

This question has bothered me off and on since I first saw the listing close to 40 years ago, but long after 1954. Moore and Chiarelli did both drop back to play defense, so that could be the reason.

Jayson Moy and Kurt Stutt missed the opportunity to ask this question when they interviewed many members of the 1954 team two weeks ago (including Harkness). http://www.wrpi.org/sports/icehouse_1954_alumni.mp3 Moore is dead, so he couldn't answer it ::rolleyes:: but assuredly someone knows.

Note that the linked .mp3 file is over 30MB.
