Will a new president bring any changes in the athletic dept?

I doubt the Athletic Department will be a priority for a new administration. For all of the complaints we have the AD is basically running alright. We're competitive in a bunch of sports, not running abig deficit (as far as i know) and there haven't been any major scandals (the lax coach thing is the closest thing to an issue I can remember and that's way back). I suspect htat that is all that Day Hall really cares about. We're not a big state school where winning the XXX Championship seems to be a matter of state pride.

Given we have uncompetitive programs in certain "major" sports - football and basketball - I don't believe the athletic dept is running alright.

Sure. My point is I don't think being competitive in football and basketball is a priority for the Cornell administration, with or without a new president. If athletics aren't costing the school money and aren't embarassing the institution (and losing isn't what I mean) then things are probably OK for Day Hall.

The masterplan for the replacement of the west stands consists of a multi-use structure to house athletics offices as well as new stands. Unless they get a multi million dollar donation, don't expect anything anytime soon.

Sounds like the AD should start an athletics capital improvement drive soon then.

Regardless of what she does or doesn't do with athletics, I'm hoping Elizabeth Garrett makes a successful and speedy recovery from her treatment for colon cancer.
