I'm glad Schafer got some love for COTY.  I know we were expected to be good, but #2 in the polls?  For a while I felt like I was the only one who thought he might win.  I know winning two consecutively is hard, but I think it's well-deserved.

I'll be honest, I thought Schafer had a better chance of winning the Penrose than winning the ECAC CotY again, only because while our national performance has exceeded a lot of expectations, I don't think our conference standing surprised anyone.

Higgins is a great player, but with the kind of year Lenny had in comparison to anyone else (Higgins wasn't even top 3 in the conference in scoring), I'm surprised he got a share of the award.

I also find it interesting that Murray wins Defensive Defenseman.  Regardless of all the discussion on this board about his faults on defense this doesn't surprise me.  He has a reputation for being a monster on defense and for a somewhat subjective award like this that can be enough to carry the day.

BTW - I am NOT trying to start that thread again.  Just commenting on the award process.

funny you say that cause I was frustrated with that one. or maybe not that in particular but with the complete overlooking of Mark McRae (not even 2nd team?), the guy i personally believe to be the best defenseman on the team. but yeah. let's not get into that too much. we all have our opinions but it is time to watch hockey and be merry, not bicker!

1. McRae was an honorable mention

2. Higgins only played like half the year, and look at his numbers. I disagree with the Hobey Baker finalist, however.
