Saw the game last night, and enjoyed the impressive game control pressure that our BIG RED drped over the hapless Engin-eers last night at beloved Lynah. Even Bob Norton (NESN) came away impressed, although he did have one outburst of his infamous "Hahvahd plattitudes' I like to think of them as his 'seizures'. He leaves the world for a couple of minutes into crimson dreamland, then comes back to the RED reality. :-)

My dual shutout predictin did not come thr. but at least I got one out of two, that's not bad.

It seems to me that this editin of the ECAC's new, "let's put everybody into the playoffs" was pretty much a flop. I knew RIP would not be up to the task, they are just not a good team, and regardless of the bellacosing here in the local papers, Union was at best a weak 6th-place finisher.  So we are back to seeing a decent effort by the #8 team, Colgate, who is really putting #3 Mouth to the test. Vermont did a momentary dance at Clarkson last week, but could not hold court against the Crimson.

It's actually kind of interesting that Cornell could be facing the right to kill off either Brown Bear, Eli, or 'Gate this coming Friday. I thnk it shows how shaky the #3 and #4 seeds really are, and that the top two seeds are clearly superior by any measure.

I'm sticking to 'Vahrd vs. Cornell in the finale sat. knight, with the BIG RED BEAR clawing up the Crimson........ we got a message to send from last year!

GREAT GAME for the BIG RED! (although Sam P., PLEASE don't be making a habit of three trips a game to the Penalty Box!)

We still need to keep our penalty minutes down.

GREAT Game for David L. !  Break that old NCAA Record!!!

 and ...........of course,   Let's GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!

Chief, nice to see you back. However, we have to find a way to stop those twitches making you hit the post button twice.:-}

On a more serious note, I actually think the playoffs this year were better than the past, especially when you look at what the other leagues are doing.

It's better than HE and having next week off, better than CCHA and running your season a week later and still having the Final Six.::screwy::

 We had some good series a week ago and the rest of us got to rest up at a time when it probably didn't throw our rhythm off. I don't know a better way to get the four best playing teams to Albany. After all, who's going to say the loser is better than the winner of the Yale-Brown series, and if 'gate can pull off the best 2 of 3 for two weekends in a row, well then send them to Albany.

In summary, I like it alot better than what we've done the past few years. But then, I also like Albany over LP.:-D

But Chief, don't forget that in 1996, Coach Schafer's first appearance at ECAC as a head coach, Cornell and Hahvahd each defeated the more superior seeds to the championship game.  As a result, Cornell changed into their home white to play the Crimson.

I like it better when our boys wear the home white, come March 22.  Go Big Red!  I am only bummed that with the time difference between Asia and America, I would have to resort to checking the Internet periodically for the game scores.

You had me until Albany, Jim.  ;-)

IMHO this is the best ECAC playoff system since they expanded beyond 8.  Each band of 4 has a real meaning, no stupid PIG, no week off... really, given their choice to go for the revenue of extra games they could not have done a better job.

Also, I think having an 11 advance one round actually buoys the decision.  It would have been embarrassing instead if we had had an 11-1 game (like the CCHA did).

Chief, I guess this means we are all finally going to get to meet you!  You'll need to clue us in on how to amuse ourselves in Albany, however.  All I know to do is cross the river to Holmes & Watson, and heck I even lived in Albany!  ::twitch::
