Please pass this message along to other Cornellians in Southwest Florida!

At least a few fans of the Cornell men's hockey team -- ranked number two in national polls -- will be gathering this weekend in Naples to watch their televised game.  On Friday March 21st at 3:30 PM please join us at Spectators Sports Pub at the Pavillion (US 41 North and Vanderbilt Beach Road) in Naples when the Big Red take on Brown.  If you are coming late, you should expect that the game will conclude by 6:00 or so.

If Cornell wins, they play in the ECAC championship game on Saturday night at 7:00, and if they lose on Friday they would play in the consolation game at 4:00 on Saturday, which will also be televised.  On Saturday we'll probably go up to the Breakaway Pub at the TECO Arena to watch the game, since we can count on having the company of Craig Brush (of the legendary 1970 undefeated national championship team) and his wife Kyle.

If you are unable to join us either evening, you can watch the game at home if you have DirecTV and are subscribed to New England Sports network (NESN).  The ECAC's Web site (www.ecac.org) will be able to tell you which game Cornell will be playing in on Saturday, so you will know what time it begins.

It is not necessary to RSVP.

I have 2 questions.  The first is regarding the semifinal start time.  We all know it's 3:30 EST, but the NESN listings on both the NESN website and TVGuide.com have the NESN coverage beginning at 4 pm.  Does anyone have a clue as to why this is?  Perhaps this is a heads-up for everyone looking for the broadcast at 3:30.  *sigh*

Second, are you sure the consolation game will be televised?  It hasn't been in the past, and as far as I know, it isn't going to be this year either.  NESN has coverage of the Women's NCAA hockey tournament on Saturday afternoon.

On the start times I really have no idea,  but I also know that whether or not we can see what is happening in Albany is up to NESN, which says it is going to begin at 4:00.

And I think you're right about the consolation game, although to be honest I hadn't spent a lot of time thinking about losing to Brown.

Here is the ECAC's release, which does not mention the consolation game in the group of games NESN is going to televise:

In the past the consy has not been televised, if that is any indicator.

Good to see that NESN has fixed the start times on their website then.  *whew*
