"Coming off Cornell, you could see how much of a difference the crowd could make," Hellemeyer said. "It'll be nice to have that same emotion in our rink. If we're going to turn it around, I don't think anyone would want to do it anywhere else but at home."  -YDN February 14, 2002

Work is no longer an excuse to live near an ECACHL team... :(

An article from the Princeton newspaper can be found here:

The best quote in my opinion is:

"We just couldn't finish," Parsons added. "They [Cornell] are a great team, and that's a tough place to play. But this game was about capitalizing on mistakes. They did it. We didn't."

and my original:

"That's the best place to play in all of college hockey," Dartmouth left winger Chris Taliercio '02 said. "The whole place is in unison, and it's just fun. The fans really get into it."

The Dartmouth student newspaper is called "The Dartmouth"?  Isn't that a little...  uncreative?  :-)

"They do all kind of just blend together into one giant dildo."

I think there was a quote from a Harvard player (an alum by that time, IIRC) that circulated several years ago and it was something about his jersey smelling like fish after the Cornell game.  Anybody have that one archived?

Found it in the Hockey-L archives (http://lists.maine.edu/cgi/wa?A2=ind9502&L=Hockey-L&P=R15560):

"Speaking as one of the many of have been hit in the helmet by a gigantic smelt during warmups, I can attest to the fact that Lynah is the loudest rink in the ECAC.
The smell of that fish haunts me still..."

I thought it was supposed to be a pun.  The Dart Mouth.

Then again, I'm not very bright.

I'm noticing a trend here:

Cornell Daily Sun:  Oldest collegiate member of the Associated Press.
The Dartmouth:     Oldest college paper
Yale Daily News:    Oldest college daily paper
Columbia Tribune:  2nd oldest college daily paper ::uhoh::
Harvard Crimson:   2nd oldest college daily paper ::uhoh::

My favorite tag-lines:

The Voo-Doo:  "MIT's only intentionally humorous publication."
The Zamboni (some school's humor paper):  "Don't laugh at that.  That's not funny.  Laugh at something funny."
