I watched most of the game on the very crappy video from Lynah. The one comment I have is that either our Powerplay needs some work or the vaunted Mercyhurst kill is really good. We did not seem to move the puck well on the PP.

yeah, that video was god awful.  This game was a great test for our defense.  They will learn how to play aggressively while still being responsible at the other end of the ice.  Derraugh has work yet to be done in teaching and honing our systems.  Both cornell and mercyhurst look to be very competitive this year, and  could again meet in the frozen four.

They will meet again in January for another Tuesday night contest...this time in Erie, PA.  Overall, I thought it was a great game between two very skilled teams.  I agree our PP needs some work and we need to get tighter defensively.

My sense was that Mercyhurst beat us at our own game.  They were more effective with the forecheck and in shutting down our outlet passes, etc.   I think the difference may be game experience and I would expect to see a different game from Cornell in January.

Each team had a beautiful pp goal that resulted from good puck movement on the pp.  Mercyhurst had a regular-strength goal off a nice set-up that capitalized on a defensive lapse or miscue. M'hurst also scored a "garbage goal."  Our 2 regular-strength goals were garbage goals but all 3 of these scores were the result of relentless pressure by the team on offense and the only thing that counts is that the goal goes in the net, not how pretty the play was that got it there.  We had a lot of chance to score similar goals but couldn't finish.

The gwg came in OT after we failed to score during the minute [+/-] of a powerplay that carried over from the 3rd period.  Mercyhurst player made a nice move to steal the puck and went in alone to score on a breakaway.

Looking at the box score, it seems that every time we went ahead either we let up or Mercyhurst became invigorated. I think all their goals except the OT came less than 3 minutes after ours. The OT goal came after a PP.
